Rotaract with President Kyle Francis Bowers made the introduction of speaker President Kyle from Rotaract. Rotaract is 7 years old in Orillia. Their main event is the Snowflake Series that runs from December to January. This is a series of 4 - 5/10k runs that involve 200 - 250 athletes of all levels. Age for runners range from 7 years old to 82 years old. This event raises approx. $ 10,000 (donating $9,000 back into the community ) to Sharing Place & Children's Aid. This years goal is $ 12,000. Kyle is looking for volunteers for Traffic directing, shoveling, set up/take down. There are also sponsorship opportunities. Rotaract Club members are between 20 - 30 years old. Right now there are only 6 members that have been with the club 5 -7 years. There is a real need for young people in the community to be part of Rotaract. Most of the young people come to school here and then move back to Toronto where the jobs are. Rotaract works with the Universities, Colleges and Highschools in the Orillia area. Thanks to Kyle and the 6 members, Rotaract is still providing a great event in Orillia. |
