Rusty Russell was feted with aplomb, finesse and copious amount of talent as we sung Happy Birthday to him in the manner that only our Club can muster.  Happy Birthday, Rusty!

Barb Rumsey stood up again to be recognized as  a new member--as always, welcome, welcome, welcome  and we're glad you're a part of our Club!

Mary Asselstine was having  a knee replacement during our meeting time so many many warm thoughts were with her ( and still are).

No further bingo tickets to pass out to members for distribution today said Kevin and just a reminder to have the folks who have rec'd tickets from members be reminded themselves to go out and purchase tickets for Bingo!

Nancy Welton brought Rotary shirts to buy --great looking!

Just another reminder folks about the upcoming dance for Bras for a Cause Show your SupportOrillia:
On September 26th get your dancing boots out of the closet and lace them up because there is a dance at Odas Park as a fundraiser.  It is only $20 per ticket and features live music with the fab musical sensation  called Suds Sutherland AND the Sensations.....   Let's get a big Rotary group together and show our moves!   Marilyn and Nancy W have tickets.

Marilyn reminded us to make use of the cheque requisition forms in the box by the registration desk and check the inside of the file to find your committee account # to facilitate reimbursement.

Julie also reminded us of the upcoming event---another Girls Night Out---Fern resort --Thursday October 30th.  This is a BIG club fundraiser and lots of assistance is needed to pull this off with style and aplomb.    The poster will be going to printo soon and we need more corporate sponsors  Are you interested?  It will cost a minimum of $250 and you will have your company's logo on our posters and there will be ads in the Packet as well!  You'll also receive one entry ticket for GNO for $250 level and 2 tickets for $500 level.  Let Julie know as soon as possible!

Noel Stern of the Salvation Army said some wonderful words of thanks  to our club for our $500 donation to the Salvation Army summer day camp program.  Because of this donation, 10-12 kids were able to participate.  We were given a tshirt with kids' names on the back who had participated as a thanks!  John Hammill will put it in the Rotary Place section.  Angela had a wonderful brain wave of auctioning the shirt off....Then she took the shirt off.  (That action in some venues could have raised her some $......).

Happy members today:  Julie  was hpapy she put the cottage to bed over the weekend.     Cliff was happy that Deb gave him back $5 of the bingo $ for cards she was able to sell but he graciously donated it back to the Bingo earnings for the club.     Rusty will be taking "early retirement" at the young age of 89 at the end of the month.    Chuck was thrilled that one of his bingo customers was the $1400 jackpot bingo winner last week and she made a donation back to the club.     Deb announced MAT filme night tomorrow night at the Galaxy--come one, come all.  Angela is happy that her hubbied "Kevin" was the official winner of $500 divided by 5 people in Bingo at Brewery Bay last week.  Kevin will donate the $100 to his son, Evan.

.Our speaker was Anne Marie Hayes who did a good presentation on ways to keep your teen alive while driving.  Her topic was teen safety and she is involved in a free program that is being offered in an all-day format at Ontario secondary schools.  She is exploring partners and was hoping Rotary would consider this.  She calls the presentation The Sweet Life Road show and there are presentations to teens and then one to parents.  MVA's are preventable and there is so much we can do.  With teens there can be a lack of awareness of the risks, they are inexperienced drivers, and they tend to act impulsively and their level of distractibility is high during adolescence.  Parents also underestimate the dangers in teen driving and often don't know what to do or how to help.  Anne Marie showed an informative video of the teen all-day program that was interesting and geared to teens.
