This was a festive fun- and food-filled evening with partner, friends, family and district governor and assistant governor as guests at the Mariposa Best Western for Charter Night!
Nancy provided us with a moment of silence to think fondly of Rotary Club member, Mary Asselstine who passed away unexpectedly . Memorial Service was held Wednesday December 17th at St. Pauls. Our condolences go out to Reid and his son Rick and family. Mary will be deeply missed.
Sergeant at arms was unable to attend the Charter night gathering. But in his place we had Santa who had arrived for a cold one at the hotel bar and decided to drop in to see us.
Santa had a big thank you for Julie Scott who has done a great job organizing Charter Night. He asked her to sit on his jolly knee but she declined because hubby Norm was there! Santa had a contest to see who was the most popular Sergeant at arms during 2014. Kevin Who's the Judge Bingo King was the applauseometer gatherer and Dean BeardMan Beers was the member's choice.
Kevin is giving up his career as an optometrist to be a hands on healer in Florida.
Doug Langman did a fabulous job selling 50/50 tickets at our Charter Night. Thanks Dougee! Two lucky people were the winners, one person gave his/her funds back from the satellite club. ( sorry folks, I didn't get details), The other portion of funds raised was donated to the Salvation Army.
We also collected foodstuffs at the front table for Salvation Army.
Our program for Charter Night was the induction of our several new members from our Satellite club. A proud moment for all. Here they are pictured below in a group photo:
8 members were present for inductions and we were able to have District Governor Brian Menton and Assistant Governor Kim Giffin also pictured with our own Club President Nancy Amos. Welcome to all of our new members!
We also had our infamous gift exchange.......steal...... grab. Hopefully folks went home with something that was enjoyeable! Some gifts were swapped and swapped and swapped. I thought for sure someone was going to slip on the ceramic tile they were running so quickly to grab what they covetted....Beer and stuffed dogs and Ferrero Rocher and wine were the hot commodities!
