Guest Speakers
Guest Speaker (Lunch Group) – Trent Mayers, Wine Journeys

Trent is a wine writer, educator, & scientist. He holds an MSc in microbiology and through his company, Wine Journeys, hosts public, charity, and private wine tasting events. He also writes about wine for Look Local Barrie and The Briar Crier.

Trent spoke about wine ratings.
His 2 fundamental Rules re: wine ratings:
  1. The true rating is your own – good wine is wine you like
  2. Choose and drink wine for its style (ref. description), not for it’s rating
There are multiple rating scales, 100 pt. scale is probably the best known, but it has a high degree of subjectivity. But regardless of the rating system and how objective it may appear, rating wine is  very subjective.

Thank you Trent for an informative session and responding to so many of our questions.

Guest Speaker (Cocktail Group) -  Mark Bissett , Couchiching Conservancy (former editor of the Orillia Packet)

Great information on what they do, how they do it and how you can help protect some of the wetlands in our area. Thank you Mark.
