Sarge and Happy Bucks

Ralph was Sargent today and it seems he is retiring from the job for a while.  With the Theme of how much he values his friends he started with his best rotary buddy Tony Telford whom he awarded a $5.00 fine and worked his way down to Jed   for .25

 laughHappy Bucks!!

Laurie started off with the fact that she is chairing her last meeting and passing the gavel to Anne and that it has been a great year.
Angela is happy also that she has a great year travelling to all the sports functions with her kids but now she has a break for the summer also that Evan is getting a drivers license.
Anne Ziegler is happy with a fun and enlightening trip to the Atlanta Rotary conference.
Wendy is happy to report the news that her daughter who is doing research in China has been offered a job at a library
Jed who's young children are growing up fast is pleased that he survived hosting his daughters sleep over party
Tony Telford is also happy with his Atlanta trip and especially with the great speakers and also that the seven lady Rotarians he attended with did not drive him completely crazy.
Marilyn is happy that an episode involving an injured black bear which appeared on her porch recently ended well as it eventually left her property although it showed up wrestling her neighbours garbage cans the next day.
Ralph is happy to share that his daughter who teaches was given special honours by her students at their commencement ceremony

Program

Our speaker Nailya Kukmasheva who speaks very good English with a beautiful Russian accent came to Canada several years ago as an immigrant and is now a Canadian citizen. She was trained as a pediatrician in Russia and learnt to speak English there as a second language.  She feels fortunate that when she decided to come over the immigration rules hinged on a point system which favoured her application.
She recently won awards for public speaking and her talk today about Canada is very timely as we approach Canada's 150th anniversary of confederation
Her talk is called O Canada and describes our country for the view of a new citizen.  She knew before arriving that Canada has the best reputation around the world for a place to live and has since experienced the kindness of Canadians which proves it true to her.  She related various examples from the rescue of stranded motorists by volunteers to the many examples of acceptance and multi-culturism.
She now works as a Russian language translator for the OPP headquarters here in Orillia.
