Editor's Notes

Thanks to Michael Taylor for his excellent work in my absence.

This would be a good time to remind folks that I signed up for this gig for 6 months.  As such, I am more than half way through my tenure with this.  If someone (or a group of people) want to take over this task, I am happy to provide some training.

Welcome New  and Visiting Rotarians
Other than speakers (who Tony and I did a terrible job of capturing names for) we had no visitors this week.
Birthdays and Anniversaries

Happy Birthday to Julie Scott

Happy Club Anniversary to:
Dave Shaw - 31 years!

Kevin Vennard 29 years (come back soon - we miss you!)
Club Announcements

Lobsterfest tickets are selling very quickly. If you want them, don't delay or they may not be available.
Lobsterfest meetings are being held immediately following the lunch and cocktail meetings this week.

Train meeting - Let summer begin! The train committee will be meeting next Tuesday (April 10) immediately following the lunch meeting.

AquaTheatre - we've gotten some great coverage on this!  Allison Braun has agreed to chair the committee and Brian Bondy will co-chair.  Lots of non-Rotary people will also participate - should be a great group to get things organized.  Check in with Allison, Brian or Allan if you want to be involved.

Sergeant At Arms and Other Club Fines

Sergeant at Arms (Noon Group)

Sergeant Brian took it easy on folks:

Jed, Tom, John and Chad were picked off for being late (they say the meeting started early - what are the rest of us to think?)

Randy was so late that even the "started early" excuse would not work for him.

President Anne was fined for 4-way test amnesia.  (Remind me not to invite Pres. Anne to be in a play!)

Happy Bucks
Happy...Happy...Happy

Happiness at High Noon:

Nancy A. was happy that Scott Showers (Hang on to your seats folks) came to Nancy's rescue last week when she was short of funds.

Nancy W. is happy that Lawrence Shaw if feeling better and recovering

Tony T was happy about a great meeting and tour at Shaw's Pancake House except that he witnessed Ralph making  a fellow Rotarian's child cry repeatedly. TSK! TSK!

Laura D is happy that in 2 weeks she will be on vacation

Dean B was $5 happy!  About the changeover from Susan Lang to Allan Lafontaine

Tom was happy to be back (the rest of the club should also throw in a buck about our happiness that Tom is back!)

John H is happy to actually have gone on a vacation and that the new Director of the Chamber of Commerce (AL) owes him big time!

Pres Anne was happy that she cooked her first Easter Duck (poor Daffy!)

Happiness in the middle of the afternoon:

Darlene was happy to have had a visit with her daughter who set her world right.  Darlene can now set her oven temperature in Fahrenheit and watch TV without the zoom factor.

Michael had a happy buck as his son Jeffrey is leaving the world of golf to become an OPP officer (congratulations Jeffry) Free golf/ no speeding tickets for life - tough decision!

Deenna - happy that her kitchen is nearing completion.  Happy for the Megan birthday/Easter celebration and excited to begin a bathroom reno

Lynn was happy to be nominated as Orillia's Woman of the year and happy to be back (We are delighted to have you back Lynn!)

Scott was happy that someone said something nice about him! (And why wouldn't we?)

Tony is excited that the trails at his farm are all named.

Francis was happy that his son and daughter had a great brother-sister trip out west sledding. For people who are wondering Diesel (the black lab) went west too.

Speakers
The Lunch Group

It was Student of the Week Week!  Unfortunately, Tony has withheld the names for clandestine reasons (or maybe just because he forgot)  Clearly a find should be levied!

Jed also made a presentation about Foundation:

This year your foundation dollars help to set up a Camp for Children in the Ukraine who had lost a parent(s)amidst the current strife in this war torn area.  This camp is to help them heal and give them some hope and respite from the lunacy going on there.

Cocktail Group

We had an awesome presentation from Sue a nursing instructor at Georgian College about the Georgian College medical student and faculty trip to provide healthcare to some of the most impoverished people in Dominican Republic.
Keep m laughing

A moth wanders into a psychiatrist's office.  He sits down and begins telling the psychiatrist about his struggles.  He hates his job, he and his wife are drifting apart and his kids seem to be on a path to self destruction.  He just doesn't know what to do.

The psychiatrists asks the moth "why did you come here?"

The moth replies: "well, the light was on."
