Birthdays, Anniversaries, Announcements

Happy Birthday  to Lawrence Shaw,   December 23rd. Sung nicely for the most part.

Announcement
Today we thanked Noreen for her excellent service throughout 2016,  Her attention  to the little details when setting up for lunch, her dedicating to memory our personal preferences and her intuitive service throughout every lunch.  We gave her a great round of applause and of course best wishes for Christmas along with a Christmas tip  which all of us generously contributed to and she was most grateful.

50 50 was not won and so the pot grows.

Sarge and Happy Bucks

Randy was our Sarge today and he started of with Kevin for not being on his registration job and the birthday table and then in a more sweeping method of fining declared a fine for all Christmas shoppers and then again for skiers and snowmobilers.

happy bucks were offered by Dave Shaw on behave of his Dad who not only had his birthday but on short notice had his appendix removed. Don is really grateful to have finally shed his brace which has been a nuisance for quite a while now and then Chuck thankful for his brother who has been moved out of ICU and has also had his own knee heal up nicely.  Then to top it off he will be away to Florida for the winter but wishes all his friends here best wishes for the holidays.

Program

Our guest speaker, Leslie Fournier has been the driving force behind the Orillia downtown's annual Streets Alive project since it's conception.   We had a quick review of past efforts including the themes of books and boats , doors and chairs and then the milestone event coming up in 2017. This will be the 150th anniversary of Canada's confederation as well as the 15oth anniversary of the incorporation of the town of Orillia.
The theme will be expressed by 50 artists decorating with their art 50 large maple leafs which will be freestanding metal sculptures approx. 6 feet high.  Also their will be 50 smaller wooden maple leafs made by Orillia high school students and displayed in business windows and finally a tree  on which will hang another 50 small maple leafs.   Sponsors of $2,000  will be given ownership of a sculpture following the exhibit. The artists themselves will be given some funds to cover the costs of their materials and will also be competing for cash awards
