The bulletin is back!
Hello All:

Sandra Dunham - bulletin editor here.
First!  Thank you to Tony Telford for taking notes at the lunch meeting
Second!  This has taken me 2 hours to create this morning!  PLEASE READ IT ALL!  Or at least skim it!

As a special incentive to do so I have made a mistake in this bulletin.  If you are sharp you will find that there is contradictory information in the bulletin.  The first person to email me (sandrad1@live.ca) the mistake will win their choice of 1 jar of my award winning pickle or 1 piece of my award winning, rum soaked Christmas Cake.

WE WON WE WON!
Madison County Coffee held a facebook contest inviting people to nominate their favourite charity to win a Dave Becket Print.  Thanks to Paula Stewart who saw this and to everyone who nominated Rotary!  We have a beautiful print. It will reside at Marilyn Hansen's until Girl's Night Out 2018 when it will once again see the light of day and be auctioned off.

Habitat for Humanity
Many Rotarians are interested in joining a work party on a future Habitat for Humanity building project.  The Lunch crew offered up 10 or 12 members and not to be outdone, the Cocktail crew offered about the same number.  Marilyn will let Habitat for Humanity know that we "are in!"

Local Needs:
A motion was made by Gloria James and seconded by Darlene Elder that we donate $500 to the Salvation Army Christmas program.  A vote was held and the results will be tabulated once the lunch meeting folks have voted - but it looks pretty promising to me!

Sergeant At Arms and Other Club Fines
Sergeant Dean Beers was tough on the afternoon crew today:

President Anne had to pay up for messing up Cat Bristow's introduction

Ralph! What's with the Christmas pants in November? (for that matter, what's with the Christmas pants? Better check in with a fashion consultant!)

Tony A - quit your whining about your losing soccer team

Tony's fine was increased by virtue of his slight to the Sarge!

Dave Shaw -for his unsolicited "Go Argo" comment - Dave...what happened here - did you just blurt out "go Argo" in the middle of a presentation or something - fine seems harsh to me! (just sayin')

Greg Parker was late!

Some transaction occurred between Sarge Dean and Cliff.  It was obviously a drawn out affair so the details were forgotten by the time it was all over (yawn!)

The Cocktail club had much less fining going on:

Scott Showers rightfully identified the misplacement of the Canadian Flag; however the Mariposa Inn set up the flags and then when we dragged them in to the room and lambasted them for their error, they flat out refused to pay.  (OK so we just agreed that someone should let the Inn know the correct order of flags - Canada, always in the middle!)

Happy Bucks
Happy...Happy...Happy

On Hunting!
There are many happy bucks as a result of Greg Parker's poor hunting skills - the 5th year in a row that he has been skunked!  Ever think of becoming a vegetarian Greg?

Randy Klein is happy that with the end of the hunting season he looks forward to employees showing up for work.

Chicago! You're my kind of Town
Many Rotarians from both the lunch and meetings were thrilled with the amazing performance "Chicago" starring the talented wife of our very own Andrew Shuttleworth!

Let it Snow Let it Snow Let it Snow
Sandra Dunham was THRILLED with the early snow and the promise of an early opening day for Mount Saint Louis Ski Hill

On Health
Don Whitfield was happy that Cliff's hip surgery was completed on Monday

Marilyn was pleased that her mom is up and walking and that she (her mom) will be moving to a retirement home in Toronto on December 1

John Hammel will be having surgery to get rid of mice on his back (Tony Telford!  Are you SURE you got this right?)

Someone (sorry missed who) was pleased to have a baby shower for her daughter - Perhaps I will catch the news more accurately when the baby arrives?

I'm Leaving on a Jet Plane
Jayne Stewart was pretty pumped about going to Mexico

WE LOVE ORILLIA!
Ralph Cipolla was pleased to announce that the city approved $225k for the Rotary Aqua Theatre and we all join him in the excitement that there is rumor of a tax reduction!

Allan LaFountain was pleased to have spent a great weekend in Toronto with Tammy; but (back to the Chicago theme) just as excited to live in a city like Orillia where we enjoy so much talent and culture!

The lunch crew heard from Dylan Court
Downtime HQ is the working studio of artists Dylan Court aka Bones, Craig Mainprize, and Paul Court aka sleeveheART. Their studio is located in Orillia's arts district, at 5 Peter St. South, Room 202. DowntimeHQ is one of several art studios in the historic building at 5 Peter St. South, which also houses the working studios and exhibition spaces of Travis Shilling, Patti Agapi, Greg James Thompson, and Lee Comtemporary Art.
They are from a cute area on acute street in a cute town! Our Art District

They spoke of the Art process, describing their successes and failures, their ups and downs; but they love it.
They are part of Starry Night, Streets Alive and the next event “ART HOP” Nov 30 7-9pm open house @ 5 Peter St., S. All are welcome! Come on out and take a look at what they do! Christmas Presents anyone?

The Cocktail Club heard from our own Joyce Campbell about Rotary Foundation
Joyce provided lots of great information. Here were the highlights from my perspective:
It's pretty complex but the bottom line is straightforward
- Foundation supports local and international projects
- you can give one time; regularly or even in your will
- there are awards for different levels of giving
- the motto of the annual fund is "every Rotarian every year" (EREY) you only need to give $10 to help make this a reality!
- Rotary has been recognized as having the best record for funds actually reaching their intended causes - one of the best run Foundations in the World
And most important - "you can change the world through your donation to the Rotary Foundation"
