Lawre Pietras was the speaker for today from OPP talking about new technologies in policing. There are 1100 cruisers used by the OPP for general duty. There are 2nd generation computers in some of the cruisers. they can swipe a drivers licencse now and have facial recognition for double/triple drivers per license for identity fraud. Very rugged computers in the cars are made by Panasonic. They do collision testing to ensure the safety of the officers. This shows evidence that speed kills. Use of tablets is coming that the officers can use both in the cars and at their desks. He talked about the autmomated license plate recognition system, we have 5 in Ontario for auto violations and CPIC issues. Very informative !
