For recognition of their achievements both personal and universal in nature and in having some aspect of 'Service Above Self'
Congratulations to our Orillia Students for achieving Rotary Student of the Month.

October Student of the Month

Emily Gordon - Twin Lakes Secondary School
Her teacher, Chris Lowery, described Emily as a natural leader who pushes herself to learn. Starting Gr. 9 she was an instrumental participant in the school's PEAC (Partners in Education, Adventure and Community) program and by Gr. 10 she was leading the direction of the class. Emily is very devoted to projects, focused on sustainability, women's health and social causes. Chris describes Emily as a "Renaissance Girl". She is a standout student with a high 90's average and at the same time on Student Council, X-Country and Swimming teams.

Ashley Greenwood - Orillia Secondary School
Ashely is a Gr. 12 student who, as described by her teacher, very naturally follows the "service above self model". She is a Student Council leader, plays trombone in the school band and volunteers to assist younger students. Ashley's music talents extend to being a key member of the OSS Brass ensemble "Brazzle" that has given concerts at seniors' homes in Orillia. She maintains a 95% average and is highly respected by both her peers and teachers.
