Program Overview

Adventure in High Technology is an annual program offered to senior High School students who have an interest in exploring the potential of a career in the exciting world of High Technology. As a result, the program assists participants in making more informed career decisions.

The program involves prominent Ottawa area businesses and industries who have agree to guide the students with 'hands on' learning opportunities, not only in the world of computers, but also in other disciplines using Hi-Tech applications to push the envelope in their respective fields.

Participating organizations include educational institutions, economic development organizations, life sciences organizations and small to medium sized 'start-ups'.

Program Description

The program is 5 days in duration and takes place in the Ottawa area in October of each year. The Midland Rotary Club selects senior high school students who have an interest in pursuing careers in high technology. The Midland Rotary Club pays the participation fee for the students selected.

Participation

The Midland Rotary Club will sponsor two local students, one from Georgian Bay District Secondary School and one from St. Theresa's High School.

Selection Process

In September, the schools will be contacted to request recommendations for candidates for participation. Appropriate candidates will be interviewed and the successful applicant will be chosen by a panel of Rotarians.

Program Date

The students selected will participate in the program in October.
