"What an exciting week we have had with the young ladies in the Transitional Academy for Girls (TAG) at Children's Village.  On Monday, 7/20, Diane Pruden made a follow-up visit to talk and teach about the cycle of the Monarch Butterfly.  She presented signs for the garden, indicating that the garden was now a certified Monarch Way Station. The girls were very attentive during Diane's presentation.  After her talk,  we visited the butterfly garden that was planted last year.  We found caterpillar eggs, which the girls brought inside to place in the butterfly aquarium, and a few live caterpillars too. The caterpillars will turn into monarchs in a few short weeks.  It was so very exciting and the garden looks beautiful in full bloom.  This program is beneficial in that the girls must keep the garden growing and maintained and the aquarium clean on a daily basis.

On Thursday, 7/23, Ms. Jeanette and Ms. Linda taught the girls how to make bracelets out of beads.  This sessions was met with much enthusiasm.  The girls caught on quickly and made beautifully designed bracelets.  Even Cheryl and Patti participated.  We had a wonderful time interacting with the girls. Their beading was very creative and even had Ms. Linda exclaiming about the patterns used.

We continue to be so proud of these young ladies, who appear to be making a conscious effort turn their lives around."
