President John brought the meeting to order and we sang the National Anthem and Rotary Grace.
Guests: Jamie Schmale (guest speaker), Andrea Coombs, Dr John Godfrey
Door Prize: Won by Gary Clarke
Humour: Charlie spoke of a fisherman going out fishing on a very miserable cold wet day. Once at the lake he changed his mind as the weather was too severe so returned home and climbed into bed where his wife was still sleeping. She rolled over and said it was so nice for him to be there, but you would not believe that my husband is out there fishing in this terrible weather (GROAN).
Announcements:

Fine:
For all those that did not participate in the "Milk Run" or the Brits in the Park this past weekend - there were a few of us who helped to fill the basket further.
Program:
- Michele introduced our guest - Jamie Schmale who promised a non-political speech and more on himself and what people like Rotarian's provide to our community.
- Jamie started off with the aspect we all feel the need to volunteer and have a civic responsibility to do this.
- Like Rotarian's we all work hard for our town, our country and those less fortunate in the world.
- Like Leslie Frost who was born here and was premier of our Province from 1949 - 1960 believe in those core values and tried to instill them to all those around him
- this history of our town is very important to me and is all tied to the family and that is why I volunteer and contribute my time to make it better
- want to make sure our City is a "go to" place for many others
- coming from the journalistic work (CKL radio) felt it was time for change and wanted to make it better by entering politics
- tried in 2004 and loss but now in another era and time for me to show the people who I have been listening to, that change can happen
- prepared for the road ahead and looking forward to the many challenges
- I am married and have lived in the city for past 10 -11 years
- getting back to the community have been thinking of a 5 K - 10 K and 15 K marathon and have been working with others to make this happen that will provide more charitable dollars for our community.
- must remember we have the largest section of the Trent / Severn water system - but will speak more about this once the political race commences
- in summary I am committed to our community, our city and just want to make a difference - that is why I have entered the political arena
There being no questions John Hunter thanked our speaker and advised that a contribution in his name would be made to the charity of our choice - Polio Plus
50/50: Sharon Chamber's ticket won but drew the 6 of Spades. The pot lives yet another week with only 13 cards left and over a thousand dollars
There being no other business for the good of Rotary, the meeting was adjourned.
