Guest Speaker: Michelle introduced the day’s speaker, liberal candidate David Marquis. David provided literature to everyone re his background and goals for the future.
David is a 4th generation family member, farm raised in the Sunderland area and he and a partner began a maintenance supply, company Advantage Specialties. His wife is a nurse in Port Perry. David has been involved in various committee and political positions for a number of years including Brock Council for 16. He has also been active in the area of conservation both as Chair of the Lake Simcoe Conservation Authority and member of the Lake Simcoe Source Water Protection Committee as well as founding Chair of the land stewardship program.
He expressed interest in the maintaining of the middle class good standard of living and economic security. Areas like public transit and the need for increased investment in infrastructure. Affordable housing and residences for seniors and child care spaces and flexible parental leave are also important. He feels it is time to invest in jobs in Canada and an increase in the interest of living in harmony with the environment. He sees and Justin Trudeau as part of a quality team.

John Hagarty thanked David and indicated he presented a well versed background.

Please make note: Rotanza is a go for May 6th. We are anxious to get the licence  and the tickets printed for Christmas. We can’t do this until the prize board is finalized and our idea at the moment is to come up with a different top prize with a value of $22,000. This is what we have paid for the car, which has incidentally only been taken once in the last few years and maybe 3 times in the 28 that Rotanza has taken place.
On Monday Sept. 21st, prior to lunch there will be a Rotanza meeting at 11:00 at the Club. We have asked anyone interested in being on the committee to please come and we would like new ideas and a new name by Monday. Contact Lynda or myself if you have any ideas.
