Fergus goes to the store and asks the produce clerk for half a head of lettuce. The clerk says they do not sell half heads of lettuce. Fergus demands to have only half a head of lettuce and demands to see the manager. The clerk says he will see the manager himself and goes into the office, He starts to explain to the manager about some jerk asking for half a head of lettuce and then he sees Fergus out of the corner of his eye (not realizing he had followed him into the office). He then immediately says to the manager "and this fine gentleman wants the other half".
(where do they come up with these?)

Program:
Lynda Ricard (guest speaker) was introduced by President John.
Lynda joined Rotary in 2002 - sponsored by Carol Timlin. She has been Club President, the recipient of many awards and Paul Harris pins, was assistant District Governor, has attended many conferences and has attended the Dominican Republic to assist in its re-build.and in 2013 received a special award from the District Governor.
Lynda's presentation was on the Rotary School of Cambodia and the work done by Rotary Club of Wasago who built a water tower there and then the Rotary Club of Barrie Kempenfelt and its involvement in the building of a school in Canbodia. One of its members - Mike Kinsey was able to gather enough funds to build the school and to provide 3 years of operating costs. Also funds were raised for school supplies and 211 bikes (that insured kids could make it to school). This was accomplished through several clubs to assist in the building of the school and a group of three great guys who gave 5 more years of operating costs.
Lynda provided several slides on the construction of the school.
Another larger project has been undertaken for another school and you can get involved and join the 27 member team going over there. Dates are Feb 19 to March 5 with a cost of approx $2,500 (US).
There are other ways to support this project - our club could assist this project financially, or could apply for a District grant to purchases desks, supplies, computers etc or by individuals to provide financial support.
If you want any further information please contact Lynda
Blair then thanked our guest speaker and advised that a gift in her name would be made to Polio Plus
There being no other business for the good of Rotary, the meeting was adjourned.
