Program: Caring Senior Service of Bergen County -Guest speaker :

On May 17, 2019 at the Atrium for Senior Living, Park Ridge Rotary member, Marisa Campbell delivered a presentation about her business and why she joined Rotary. By way of background, Marisa noted an increasing need for affordable aging in place services. It has been predicted that through 2020 there will be approximately 1.3 million additional home care jobs.

Marisa and her husband, Chris, own and manage Caring Senior Service of Bergen County. The goal of their business is to help seniors remain in their homes. The focus is on activities of daily living rather than skilled nursing care.  This can include assistance with bathing, dressing, meal preparation, household chores and more. Caring Senior Service fees vary by specific client needs and complexity; long term care insurance often is used to cover many of the costs.

Marisa described how her passion for caring services came from her personal background and experience.  Marisa spent time in Africa where she helped to open a school and also noticed how wonderfully elders were treated. Her background in education led her to successfully apply for and open a middle school in the Bronx. Later she became a consultant to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where she helped to train their workforce in patient-centered care. Later on she was also involved with an Alzheimer’s community in the Brightview organization.

Marisa’s combined passions for education, business, elder care and service have brought her to Rotary and Caring Senior Services of Bergen County.
