Visiting Rotarian from Nigeria Discussing Joint Water Project with Local 7490 Rotary Clubs
Sep. 07, 2017
The Rev. Felix Ugwuozor will speak about OneHopeChildren, a foundation which he established in 2010, and another project with the Wyckoff Rotary Club, to install a clean-water system in his home village in Nigeria.
Speaking at the District Staff Meeting on August 7, Father Ugwuozor began by speaking of his family, saying that his father, who died from the effects of black lung disease when he was 10-years old, had insisted that he participate in the celebration of Mass every day. As a child, he said, he would walk several miles every day in order to obtain clean water for his family. After having been ordained into the priesthood, Father Ugwuozor said, he established the OneHopeChildren Foundation in 2010 while teaching in the United States. Introduced to Rotary while in New Jersey, he became a member of the Trans-Ekulu Rotary Club in the State of Enugu upon his return home to Nigeria.
Hope you will come to hear more about this joint Rotary project and how he is proposing to increase its benefits. He is seeking an additional funds in order to obtain a generator which would bring the water to the surface. |

So You Think You Want to Run a Marathon -
Sep. 29, 2017
Please join us for Bergen-Highlands Rotarian Mary Connolly for her presentation "So You Think You Want to Run a Marathon." Mary completed her first marathon at age 32 and fastest at age 48, 10 days before breast cancer surgery. She has run 7 marathons and 39 half marathons and attributes career success and staying sane during some life-altering tragedies to a regular running schedule. As a life coach and running coach, she discusses the reasons people decide to participate in marathons, what impact running a marathon can have on the rest of your life, and what it will take to achieve your goal.

Please join us and bring friends who want to network! The Rotary Means Business Fellowship Provides Rotarians business networking events to meet and socialize with other Rotarians in business. The first Rotary Club was formed when attorney Paul P. Harris called together a meeting of three business acquaintances in downtown Chicago, United States, at Harris's friend Gustave Loehr's office in the Unity Building on Dearborn Street on February 23, 1905. The members chose the name Rotary because initially they rotated subsequent weekly club meetings to each other's offices, although within a year, the Chicago club became so large it became necessary to adopt the now-common practice of a regular meeting place. I am happy to share that we have formed the first Rotary Means Business Committee in district 7490 to facilitate a Networking Platform for fellow Rotarians and non-Rotarians alike! RMB is designed for you share business with one another, while adhering to the Four-Way test. Mission Statement Rotary Means Business encourages Rotarians to support the success of their fellow Rotarians by doing business with them, and by referring others to them. |
