Rotary Club of Ithaca Introduces New Members
Four new professionals join local service club
The Rotary Club of Ithaca is pleased to introduce four new members who have joined the service club during the last quarter. These community members bring professional experience from the business sector and volunteer in Tompkins County. Ithaca Rotary’s motto is “Service Above Self.” Membership is open to all community members who share in this belief; new members are accepted year-round.
The Ithaca Rotary Club is delighted to welcome these individuals,” said Rotary Membership Chair Ron Provus. “Our members come from all walks of life and have a wide variety of interests to match those of Rotary. As members of Ithaca Rotary, individuals give of their time and skills to positively impact the needs of our community.”

Dan Guthrie is a nurse manager at Bridges Cornell Heights. He was born in Elmira and graduated from Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles with a B.S. in business administration. He lived in L.A. for 20 years, and returned to the Finger Lakes 15 years ago. He now lives in Burdett, and enjoys traveling, fitness, and good food and wine.

Jessie Stone He was born and raised in Niskayuna, NY. She studied economics and philosophy at Binghamton University, and received her master’s in public administration from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University. She now serves as the Professional Development Coordinator at the School of Business at Ithaca College. Jessie and her husband Biyuan live in Endicott with their 5 year old son. Jessie transferred from the Endicott Rotary Club, where she was a member since 2006.

Executive Director of the Ithaca Children’s Garden Erin Marteal grew up in Alexandria, Va., and moved with her husband to the Ithaca area 13 years ago. She has been involved with various garden-based learning efforts for children and adults ever since. In August 2010, she completed her master’s degree in public garden leadership from Cornell's Department of Horticulture. Erin loves to learn through travel, and has visited many exotic locations, including Turkey, India, Thailand, Australia, and New Zealand.

Frank Towner is the CEO of the Ithaca YMCA. He and his family moved to Groton from Rochester in 1994 to live on the farm that has been in his family for seven generations. He earned an A.A.S. from Monroe Community College, and a B.A. from RIT in fine arts and design. Frank has been recognized with many awards, including Citizen of the Year in Tompkins County, Red Cross Volunteer of the Year, and the Lansing Fire Department’s President’s Award, among others.
New Rotary members are invited to serve on projects and committees that are beneficial to Ithaca and the global community. Activities range from a few hours to longer time commitments. New members meet fellow Rotarians at weekly luncheon meetings held at the Holiday Inn downtown beginning at Noon every Wednesday. The public is welcome to attend a lunch meeting to learn more about Rotary.
