Meeting Summary
07/15/2019
President John Griffith called the meeting to order promptly at 12:27 pm, with the ring of the bell and welcomed everyone to today’s meeting.

Greeters:
Liz Roth and Errol Miller were our greeters today and Liz introduced the members who brought guests:
- Dennis Gazdiewich introduced his wife Julie;
- Velma Corson introduced her daughter;
- Charlene Canada introduced her daughter Kylar;
- Susan Griffith introduced her granddaughters Beau and Elle;
- Mike Lougee introduced Matt Hanns (Hunting Energy);
- John Griffith introduced Erin Helm (Casper Chamber of Commerce);
Song and Merriment:
Gary Pehrson led us in singing “Home on the Range” in honor of cow appreciation day
Family of Rotary:
President John Griffith welcomed Dennis Gazdiewich back; It was noted that Anne Ruble’s father passed away recently
Rotarians of the Week:
President John Griffith nominated Lori Klatt for her work in setting up today’s meeting.
Dean Kline, Rod Aaker and Dusty Johnson were nominated by President John Griffith for getting a float in the Fair & Rodeo parade last week.
Kristin Galles nominated Steven Schnell and Jason Dewitt and the Science Zone for the neat activities they provided during the parade.
Jim Anderson, Jim Beck, Bekka Steinhoff and Susan Griffith were all nominated for agreeing to drive kids to and from RYLA Camp.
Dusty Johnson nominated John Griffith for making the float in the parade happen.
Dusty Johnson nominated Gene Theriault for getting the duck cages worked on.
Deb Theriault nominated Vickery Fales Hall for taking the lead on the park cleanup prior to the Duck Derby.
Announcements:
Peaches Lynch spoke about the golf tournament and stated that we need at least 10 more sponsors. Please let Peaches know if you can help out.
Chastidy Fox reminded us that it’s time to get selling those Duck Derby Tickets. You can pick up your tickets from and return monies to Chastidy or Miamie Sleep.
Carley Applegate announced that her free caregiver boot camps are still running and encouraged us to check them out.
Barry Johnson announced that we have the Rotary history for sale, they are $50 each.
Membership:
Jason Dewitt presented a Paul Harris award to President John Griffith. Jason used his points to have the award put in John’s name.
Jeremy Jones turned his red badge in to John Phillips in exchange for a blue badge. Congratulations Jeremy.
Charlene Canada gave her classification talk today.
Program:
John Griffith introduced our speakers today, Deb and Gene Theriault. The Theriaults spoke about their experiences with the recent Friendship Exchange. The goal of the Friendship Exchange is to promote international fellowship, share culture and information on Rotary projects, to expand friendships and to attend Rotary meetings and presentations.
Deb explained that it’s a district-to-district exchange that’s arranged by the district chairperson. Ten to twelve people go. The traveling district is hosted by the receiving district and give a presentation about their district. In order to go, you must have a valid passport and be current on the appropriate shows. Costs to go on the exchange are highly variable.
Casper will be hosting the “Brits” on September 9-11. Deb noted that we’ll need about six host families. We’ll set an agenda of fun things to see and do and plan some type of club get-together/social.
Gene shared photos and spoke about their May 2019 trip to England and their past trip to Australia. He also shared some stories of what Rotary projects are being done in the other locations.
President John Griffith concluded the meeting at 1:28 pm letting us know that next week we will be back at the Ramkota Hotel.
