Greeters: Errol Miller and Fred Feth Inspiration: Matt Grant Program: The Rotary Club of Casper is honored to welcome Sergeant First Class Shane J. Vincent as the speaker at its July 26th meeting. Sergeant First Class Shane J. Vincent was born and raised in Casper and entered the U.S. Army on July 31st, 2008. He attended Infantry One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, GA. His first assignment was with the 4th Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment, more commonly known as “The Old Guard” at Fort Myer, VA.
During his first tour in The Old Guard, he became the first and only person from Wyoming to receive the Guard, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Identification Badge. He also became the only person in history to guard over the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier for 24 hours straight without being relieved during Hurricane Sandy. He served as a Tomb Sentinel, Rifleman, Team Leader, and Assistant Relief Commander. Vincent now serves as a US Army Recruiter and will be speaking about the history of the Tomb, his time in Wyoming, and his career in the Army at Monday’s luncheon.
