Program (Brad Murphy Spectra Management, Casper Events Center):
PE Dick Jay introduced our speaker, Brad Murphy, director of Spectra Management the company that manages the Casper Events Center. He thanked us for being their guests today and told us all about Spectra and the Events Center. Spectra Venue Management is a subsidiary of Comcast Spectacor which is owned by Comcast NBC Universal. They are the venue management arm of the company that runs venues all around the country. Being such a large corporation gives them access to a lot of important resources to run venues like our events center. We have an executive Chef at the events center that will also be over the food at the Hogadon Ski area lodge. As of last Tuesday they are now managing the Ski Lodge at Hogadon and will have great food and a great venue for weddings and other special occasions. Brad had his staff come up and introduce themselves so that we could get to know who they are and what their role is at the Events Center.
Spectra took over in October of 2016 and so far have had a great relationship with the Casper Community. They are excited to now be managing the Hogadon Ski Lodge and look forward to a lot of great memories. This Saturday will be an open house for the Lodge with their menus and some food samples to introduce the community to the Lodge. He told us a little bit about some of the shows that are scheduled coming up in the next few months, some very exciting events and shows. You can see the scheduled shows and events at caspereventscenter.com they are looking to bring in a diverse list of events so that everyone can enjoy the center. They are starting off with some fun free community events starting this next week so check out the website for more information. They have created new partnerships with companies like Sinclair, Pizza Hut, Pepsi and others. They have Sinclair ticket offices around the State for selling tickets to the events. They are looking to do seating upgrades, there is a resolution next Tuesday night that goes before the city council to upgrade the seating with some State funds. They are also looking to get metal detectors so that they do not have to hand wand everyone that comes to the events so that they can speed up the entrance to events and maintain safety. They are also looking to add more ADA areas for seating. They need to make sure that they can sell out the shows so that they can get even more and better shows to come to Casper.  He is very confident that this next year with the shows they have scheduled that they will be able to eliminate the large deficit that has existed for the City with the running of the Events Center in the past.

President Richard Schwahn concluded the meeting at 1:23; letting us know that next week we are back at the Ramkota.

Rotary Reveal Q&A

Name: Jason DeWitt

1. What book or books are you reading right now? "I have several books on my nightstand right now. One is Macroeconomics and another Organizational Behavior. Those monopolize all my reading time as they are my school texts."

2. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? "If it would sustain me the rest of my days I would eat nothing but pistachios."

3. What movie have you seen the greatest number of times? "Before I had a daughter, my son and I wore out The Empire Strikes Back. These days, I think Frozen has overtaken it at the top of my most viewed."

4. If you could attempt any profession other than your own, what would it be? "All things being equal and I could still have the family I have now, I would LOVE to be the director of live sporting event broadcasts. I worked in television a long time and fell in love with producing live sports."

5. If you could have dinner with up to three people from history, who would they be? "It sounds sort of cliche but I never knew my paternal grandparents as a couple. He died when I was only a year old and she never remarried. She eventually passed as well after a long and glorious life. It would make me very happy to dine with James and Anne DeWitt. The fourth in our party would be the sweet baby girl my wife and I lost nine years ago as she was born too early and did not survive. I would like to see her one more time."
