Rotary Lunch Meeting
at Piatti's

President Debbie Hudson Presiding

President Hudson rang the bell and welcomed everyone to
the Rotary Club of Arden Arcade!

Note from the Editor: Always make sure the memory/photo card is firmly inserted into the camera... otherwise it will not record the images. All images from this meeting are firmly embedded in the demented mind of the photographer but not on the memory card.
Pledge -
Tim Cahill

President Hudson asked Tim Cahill to lead the club in the pledge to our nation's flag.

She then provided the thought of the day.

Both fulfilled their tasks with great aplomb.

SHOW ME THE MONEY...

She's a tramp!
I hear she'll roll over for anyone.

Christine Jensen - Happy Bucks

Christine would have rung the bell but, being she is an accountant and she knew that her funds were needed elsewhere, she decided to just be Happy.  She was happy that her dog, Jack, got his cast off this morning after being encumbered with it for 9 weeks. She was even happier to report that her dad is out of the hospital after visiting the emergency room on Saturday and staying through Monday.  She is happy he is home and resting and everything seems to be going really well.
Bill Hambrick - Sad Bucks
Bill was not happy to share that his European vacation is not over quite yet. There are ongoing charges.  About three weeks ago Bill received a letter from a collection agency claiming that he had gotten a ticket in Slovakia.  Bill claims to have only been in Slovakia for three and a half hours doing some shopping and getting a sandwich. Apparently, he parked where he was not supposed to.  How was he to know? He can't read Slovakian signs!  He didn't have the correct sticker on his car. It turned out to be a very expensive sandwich. Bill paid the fine as he is a fine-upstanding citizen and did not want to go to jail if he ever went back to Slovakia. Evidently the news got out that Bill likes to have a clean record and Hungary sent him a $425 fine for being in the wrong place at the wrong time too. Bill went to 5 countries, and he is afraid he may get 3 more letters asking for more money.

Chris Lewis - Happy Bucks

Chris was pleased to share that the lodge he belongs to put on their first event in seven years.  They did a luau at Gibbons Community Center. While they did not make a lot of money, they got the experience of putting on an event and everyone had a good time.

Daniel Martin - Happy Bucks

Daniel shared that he and his wife are heading to New Zealand and they are renting a car...  he is happy that the signs there are in English.

Emmett Swarat - Sad Bucks

"This just seems to be the year that keeps on giving."  I've gotten married, I've gotten a baby.  While in Italy, I got a wonderful phone call at 11:00 PM that my dog was diagnosed with lymphoma."   Hmmm... one of these things is not like the other? "The lymphoma is type T, so it's heavily aggressive. He's hanging in there the best he can.  We are not sure how much time we have with him."

Chris Figueroa - Happy Bucks

Chris was just a little bit late today and he was very happy that our President Elect Chris Lewis, unloaded the cart for him... and that he (Chris Figuero) did a very nice job parking the trailer.  He also thanked Ryan Driffill for helping Chris unload too.

President Debbie Hudson - Bell Ringer

The Prez shared her Bell Ringer was about Gratification! She displayed a slide with all of the birthdays and anniversaries on it.  Unfortunately, that picture is not available.  Daniel Martin has a birthday on the 21st.  Rob Olmstead was born in October, too. Tom Good and Lydia Wytrzes both have anniversaries. Bill and Leigh have a 34 year anniversary.  John Gabriel has been a Rotarian for 46 years.

Today is day one of the second quarter.
The first quarter was a busy one.  We accomplished:
1. Off-site lunch at St. Johns.  We will be hosting a birthday party for them in May.
2. EmPOWERment Park cleanup
3. Wrapped up the trailer and it looks maaavelous
4. B Street Theater outing
5. Painted reindeers for the parkway
6. Unveiled AED at Sac Metro for the larger effort started by our club
7. Conducted our Golf Tournament
8. Dedicated a Peace Pole at Aspire
9. In the process of chartering another Interact Club
10. Most Importantly, we are having Fun

"None of this can happen without all of you and that is why I'm ringing the bell."

Unfortunately for the Prez, the slide with the corrected information is not available to replace this one... so you get it one more time. I'm assuming showing this slide is better than no slide at all.

   Joe Acebedo's Journey and Insights:
Pilot, Youth Director, and Entrepreneur

## Summary:
The transcript features a detailed narrative by Speaker A, a private charter pilot and youth director at a church, who shares his life journey and professional experiences. He began flying at age 15, inspired by his father who was both a pilot and pastor. Speaker A balances his aviation career with his passion for youth work at Sacramento Central Church. He flies private charters for Exojet and Modern Aviation, enjoying the flexibility of being an independent contractor. His aviation career includes flying multi-engine props and jets, with stories of notable passengers such as NFL players and Manny Pacquiao. A significant life event was his daughter's open-heart surgery, which motivated him to prioritize family and meaningful work over business. He also discusses the technical aspects of flying, including turbulence and fuel consumption differences between single-engine planes and jets. Additionally, Speaker A and his wife run an IV therapy and cryotherapy business, integrating health services with his flying career. He is training to become a helicopter pilot for a sheriff's department contract and plans to retire within five years. Throughout, he emphasizes the importance of family, faith, and personal fulfillment, while sharing anecdotes that highlight the unique lifestyle of a private pilot.

- This event deeply impacted Joe, motivating a life change away from business toward aviation and family.

### Church Involvement
- Active at Sacramento Central Church for approximately 5-6 years.
- Youth director role motivated by family experiences.

## Aviation Progression

### Flight Training
- Started with single-engine Cessna aircraft.
- Progressed to multi-engine propeller planes.
- Transitioned to flying jets, including Learjets and Grayers for high executives.

### Flight Experience
- Private charter flights can cost around $30,000 per full plane from Sacramento to LA.
- Sharing the cost among passengers reduces individual cost to approximately $2,000–$3,000.
- Advantages include faster travel and bypassing typical airport security procedures.

### Notable Flight Experiences
- Flew clients unknowingly involved in cartel activities; declined offers for certain flights based on ethics.

- Landed at nearest airport and switched planes without alarming passengers.

### Pilot Amenities
- Uses airport sleep quarters for rest between flights.
- Owns a project airplane being restored/assembled at home.

## Differences Between Aircraft Types

### Single Engine vs Multi-Engine vs Jets
- Single engine planes (e.g., Cessna) max speed approx. 200 mph.
- Private jets can reach speeds up to 600 mph.
- Jets consume more fuel, approximately one gallon every three seconds during takeoff.
- Fuel consumption decreases at cruising altitude due to thinner air.

### Technical Skills
- Transitioning from single to multi-engine and then to jets requires learning new instruments and avionics.

### Turbulence Insights
- Turbulence causes shaking but does not threaten structural integrity of planes.
- Turbulence occurs due to wind pockets but wings will not fall off.
- Commercial flights often follow jet streams to minimize turbulence.

## Aviation Culture and Humor

- Friendly banter about football team loyalties (Dallas Cowboys vs 49ers).
- Light-hearted jokes about turbulence and pilot control.

## Business Ventures

### IV Therapy and Cryotherapy
- Joe and his wife own an IV therapy and cryotherapy business in Elk Grove.
- Joe manages business operations while his wife handles medical aspects.
- Business caters to clients including those who travel frequently or attend events (e.g., bachelor parties).

### Book Publication
- Joe maintains a flight journal.
- A publisher read his journal and encouraged him to write a book.
- Upcoming book titled "IV Drips and Air Trips" will be available at Barnes & Noble.

## Helicopter Training

- Started training with the sheriff's department to fly helicopters (rotary wing aircraft).
- Finds helicopter flying physically demanding due to constant leg and hand movements.
- Aims to work as a contract pilot for sheriff's department helicopters.

## Pilot Lifestyle and Perks

- Sometimes stays in airport pilot sleep quarters for convenience.
- Travels often include hotel stays and rental cars, sometimes not as luxurious as expected.
- Interactions with high-profile clients provide networking and investment opportunities.

## Charter Flight Benefits

- Security services include pick-up from location, direct transport to plane, bypassing airport security lines.
- On arrival, coordinated security transfers clients to final destination.
- Flying charter can be more affordable and time-efficient compared to commercial first-class.

## Closing Remarks

- Joe emphasizes the importance of family, church, and personal time alongside his career.
- Encourages interested parties to contact him for charter flights or security services.
- Plans to retire within five years but remains active in aviation and business.
- Expresses gratitude for the opportunity to share his story.
