Bell Ringer - Tim Cahill
Tim was happy to ring the bell because his odometer ticked up another year and he was still upright and breathing, two qualities his wife appreciates in him, and he is still able to share that fact with the club. Big Al noted Tim looked good for being 91. Tim responded that many people get a little upset about telling their age after turning 30... you know... maybe its the lines or the gray hair. I really don't care. I'm 103. (He doesn't look a day over 90.)
Bell Ringer - RayAnn Bradford
RayAnn was ringing the bell in honor of her great granddaughter because she turned four today. She had heart surgery when she was six months old. She is healthy, happy, loved and a grateful girl. Also, Jenny Davini is off on a trip to Scotland for three weeks with the great grandchildren and the parents of the great grandchildren and the in laws of the other grandparents.

Matt was giving Happy Bucks as he now gets to sit at the past president's table.
Soggy Happy Bucks - Big Al Frumkin
Big Al is happy because Sunday morning at 3 AM he had an arson at his building. The arsonist, not the brightest bulb in the box, signed in to the building via his alarm code before proceeding to set the fire. Big Al noted "I am currently functioning with no internet, no telephone, and computers that don't work due to the water damage. The good news is that I didn't get much fire downstairs. It was all upstairs. But I've always said the measure of a man is not how you handle the good times, but how you handle bad times. Much to the contractor's chagrin, I expect to be operative by Friday. I'm so happy nobody got hurt. That is the important thing."
Happy Bucks - PDG Turner
PDG Turner shared that his daughter is healing well after her accident. She had her two week appointment yesterday. Everything's healing up great. She is in a boot The great thing is she is quickly, quickly, getting better. Also, half of this donation is going towards our good-looking suave president elect, Chris Lewis, who just arrived late, but looking good.

It was a fine, Fine!
The Prez, feeling uncomfortable about issuing fines, felt the need to explain why PDG Turner was fined last week... even though she need not explain, she did.
The Prez was tipped off that Steve had purchased a new vehicle. She waited for him to announce the fact himself. He shared happy bucks and made no mention of his new car. When he failed to do so, she felt he was fair game for the fine.

The auction was a great success. The set of two sauces, Original and Carolina, was sold for $200 to be split by the two Als.
Joe, impressed at the results of the auction, decided to give each winning bidder a set of the two sauces.

What's Up with Bob?
The Prez was pleased to announce that Bob Mutchler is having his last radiation treatment next Wednesday. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers for a good outcome from the treatments. If history tells us anything, it tells us this is a minor inconvenience for Bob, and he will be back with us in no time. We look forward to having him back soon.
Milad Parsa, New Member?
Membership Chair, Tom Goode announced that Milad has been approved for membership by the club board. His designation is Banking as he is with First Citizens Bank. The only thing standing in his way is the approval by the club membership. Tom asked that any member having a concern with the proposed membership of Milad be brought to his attention. Barring any major concerns, Milad will be inducted at the next meeting.
Big Al asked if Milad had been informed of the club's custom that new members bring samples of the business venture. Tom noted that he was not so informed. Tom was asked to correct that oversight.

It was in reference to the stage of the race that Joelle was in where two people aid in the removal of the wetsuit from the body of the swimmers that have just finished the swimming leg of the triathlon race. These volunteers were known as strippers.

Rotary House - Work Day
PP Tim "Covid" Cahill announced that our club is responsible for yard maintenance at the Rotary House this weekend, 8/8/26. Tim noted that the amount of work is minimal and consists of light yardwork. The Club thanks Tim Cahill, Lisa Asperger, Rayann Bradford,the Prez for showing up and fulfilling our commitment to maintaining the Rotary House. As Tim just turned 103, he is in need of help to ensure that all the work gets accomplished. It might be nice if club members checked in on Tim to see how he is doing, especially at his age, and ask if he had sufficient liniment oil to sooth his aging muscles (liniment is the secret word.) Words of encouragement mean a lot to the elderly as they get on in life, especially after getting past the century mark.

District Governor Elect - Brian Gladden
Enhancing Rotary Youth Engagement: Interact, Rotaract, and Entrepreneurship Initiatives
Big Al began his introduction of District Governor Elect by commending President Hudson for dedicating the first meeting of each month to informing the club members about different aspects of Rotary. Today DGE Gladden will be discussing Enhancing Rotary Youth Engagement even though the Prez expected the talk to be on Membership. Membership will be discussed in May when Youth Engagement was actually scheduled for discussion.
Brian Is a past president of the Rotary Club of Roseville. Professionally, he is the CEO of a strategy and innovation institute. He is the Governor Elect and will be governor at the same time President Elect Chris Lewis in our president.
## Overview of Rotary Youth Programs
- Focus on Interact and Rotaract programs.
- Importance of transitioning youth into Rotary.
- Brian Gladden as an example of successful youth program involvement.
## Interact Program
### What is Interact?
- High school level program, ages 12 to 18.
- Stands for International in Action.
- Largest Rotary youth program with approximately 342,953 interactors worldwide.
- More members than Rotaract and other youth programs combined.
- Nearly 15,000 Interact clubs across 145 countries.
- World Interact Day in November encourages one local and one international service project annually.
### Structure and Support
- Composed of Interact Club on campus, advisors on campus, and Rotary sponsor clubs.
- Seven to eight largest Rotary clubs sponsor about 80% of interactors in the district.
- Rotary clubs include Rio Americano, Aspire, Elk Grove, Folsom, Yuba City, El Dorado Point West, and West Sacramento.
### Goals and Challenges
- Improve collaboration and support across clubs.
- Establish district committees including youth and Interact advisors for better communication.
- Monthly committee meetings initiated to enhance support.
- Historically, lack of strong committees has made support difficult.
- Importance of gathering accurate data on Interact advisors and presidents for effective collaboration.

- Clubs often disband when faculty advisor retires or students graduate.
- Community colleges pose challenges due to short student tenure.
### Plans
- Restart and support Rotaract clubs at SAC State, Folsom Lake, Sierra College, and others.
- Need strong campus advisors, preferably Rotarians.
- District sponsorship and collaboration encouraged.
## Carlson Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Sacramento State)
### Overview
- Hub for entrepreneurship in Northern California, outside Berkeley and Stanford.
- Serves general population, not just students (80% non-students).
- Partners with SBA, banks, venture capitalists, accelerators.
- Offers free programs and coaching for startups.
### Involvement Opportunities
- Business coaches volunteer to provide speed coaching sessions.
- Workshops and programs led by entrepreneur-in-residence (Brian Gladden).
- Collaboration with local Rotary clubs for projects.
