Speaker Denise Jones shared with us the history and geology of the smallest mountain range in the world – The Sutter Buttes. It qualifies for this title because the highest peak is only 2,122 feet. It is privately owned by 7 families; the State Park system owns 17 acres. Tours are only available by private reservation with a qualified guide. This range is protected by Sutter Land Trust and Middle Mountain Interpretive Hikes Organization. East Sacramento Rotarians have the privilege of a private hike, led by Denise Jones on February 17. All must sign up in advance, contact Amy Ruggles. Hikes are rated from 1 boot to 6 boot in difficulty. This will be a 2-3 boot hike. We are planning to conclude our tour with a trip to a brewery for those who wish to celebrate their completion of an amazing hike!
