The Salvation Army needs a playground upgrade. In April, we'll have bark delivered and Carroll Dudley will share a sign-up for a workday.
Carroll also said there was another crab feed at his Masonic Hall March 9th at 6pm. Please contact him if you'd like to attend.
Speaker - Valerie Beck of Chocolate Uplift had us taste three different chocolates. The first was from San Francisco from a company named 9th and Larkin. The cocoa beans were from Tanzania, and the chocolate was 72% cocoa. The second was from the state of Georgia. The cocoa level was 60% It had freeze dried raspberries and orange-infused olive oil. The company name was Xocolatl. She made us laugh when she said the cocoa bean comes from a plant and the raspberries are a fruit, so really eating this chocolate bar is like having a fruit salad. The third was from Eureka and was a mix of dark and white chocolate, named "Strawberries and Cream" from Dick Taylor. Valerie talked about the care that is given by artisans who make their own chocolate. She showed us a cocoa pod, which was very large, and showed how the cocoa beans are really the seeds in this pod.
