Speaker Dave Lambros talked about his experience coaching football in the Pac12, with terrific stories about games and the many amazing experiences he had. He also demonstrated how his wrist down indicator works and challenged us to think of 10 teams that don't have a plural-named mascot.
Tax and Accounting Minute: Kipp Johnson shared with us the sad story of the CEO of NorCal Goodwill, who was indicted and arraigned recently for criminal fraud, stealing over $1 million. Kipp has been on the board of directors for Goodwill for 23 years. About 2 1/2 years ago, an auditor found illegal behavior. The board acted quickly but the legal system was slow. Kipp advised us all to be careful when we are on boards to hire the best, but then also to be awake and aware of how they're managing the business.
Announcements: CRAB FEED February 24th at the La Sierra Community Center. Tickets are $75. There will also be a cake auction and dancing! Peggy Porter-Honeyman has tickets for us. Carmichael Rotary is sponsoring, so let's all go. Our NEW NAME will change to be the Rotary Club of American River starting in July. The SALVATION ARMY service project brought in $13,000 so Jim will be dying his hair soon. The District will provide WEBMASTER CLUBRUNNER training on Saturday January 27th at 9:00 am at Encina High School. Registration is available on the District 5180 Website calendar.
Happy Dollars - Amy Ruggles rang the bell because she had such a grand adventure in Argentina with her college roommates. One of her favorite trips was to the Iguazu Falls. Our speaker Dave Lambros put happy dollars into the pot because the Kings are not playing New Orleans any more this year. Charley Rea put in happy dollars to celebrate his birthday.
