  1. Rang the bell at 12 noon
  2. Pledge - Jim Fritzsche
  3. Thought of the Day - The Sisters of Mercy were founded in Ireland. They came to Sacramento in 1854 and in 1890 built Mercy General Hospital. A sculpture of Sister Mary Baptist Russell is on the grounds at the Capitol, commemorating the first hospital built in Sacramento on that site before the capitol building chose that site and had the hospital move. The 100th anniversary for Mercy General Hospital is coming up next year. More about their history here: https://www.dignityhealth.org/sacramento/about-us/our-history
  4. Tax & Accounting Minute - Blockchain part 3. There are practical applications for blockchain. We could use it to track ownership of a vehicle, medical records, and land records. In fact, in Ghana, the company Bitland is building a database for land ownership.
  5. Happy Dollars - Carolyn Curtis has been in remission for 1.75 years. Also, Oklahoma adopted her trauma curriculum that will help children learn how to heal after trauma.  Bob Deering was at Dr. Bud's office and he ran into DeeDee Lehe and Rob. DeeDee's CT scan this week shows her cancer is shrinking. Rob said they would like to become active in the club again.  Jim Shaw has new ears and eyes. His new hearing aids are working great, and his cataract surgery went well. Amy Ruggles is glad that her turn as Sergeant at Arms is almost over, so she won't have to put up with Dick Hall anymore j/k.
  6. News - The Carmichael Club officially voted to merge, so we are full steam ahead. April 20th there's a planning meeting at the home of Tim Hayes 9:00 to noon. Jim Shaw asked for a written copy of the plan.
  7. Speaker - Jack Kimmel introduced Michael Korpiel, DHA, FACHE. Dr. Korpiel has more than 34 years of health care leadership experience and is an accomplished strategist who understands trends and adapts to market shifts to sustain growth in the ever-changing health care industry. There are five hospitals in this hospital system, which has the highest ratings for customer satisfaction in Northern California. Also, Leap Frog gave them an A rating for patient safety, and of their 600 physicians, 93 have been celebrated with the Top Doc award from SacTown magazine. Dignity offers an unparalleled heart surgery center, a stroke center, a Multiple Sclerosis Achievement Center, and a Lung GPS machine that looks at x-rays, finding cancer spots too small for humans to see. Their Corporate Innovation Team actively searches for developing technologies. Their plans for expansion include more Ambulatory (walk-in) services, Imaging Centers, and Urgent Care. Michael was a Rotarian in Dallas and would like to join a club here. Dr. Korpiel's bio:
