Thought of the Day – Jim Fritzsche talked about his first sales experience. His mentor would introduce himself as the 2nd best salesman in the world, which would prompt the question, “who is the 1st?” and the answer was, “The person who sold the 1st phone, because… who you gonna call?” Which would make everyone laugh. Laughter is a great way to open a conversation.

Tax and Accounting Minute: Jim Fritzsche introduced the HSA – if you don’t spend it, you accumulate it. You can’t be on Medicare, you have to have a high-deductible health policy at $1,500 deductible. You can put up to $7,700 into it annually if married into your HSA. It’s tax deductible, right on the 1st page of the tax return. Let it accumulate and put it into investments, building up a self-insurance plan you can draw on tax-free. Growth is also not taxed. Using it is tax free, as long as you’re paying premiums or medical treatment. This can be passed on to spouse when you die with no taxes, or to a beneficiary taxed as a regular IRA. This doesn’t have to be set up through an employer, but your employer can contribute to it. Jim saves his medical expense receipts, then when he wants to pull out significant amounts tax free, he claims them.
Happy Dollars: Jim is happy that the window shades work now in the restaurant. Amy is happy to go to Tempe Arizona to see her college roommate.

- Jim Fritzsche – ALS walk was a great time. Jim and his wife Allison were in charge of parking. It was a beautiful time to be with ALS patients and their supporters.
- Chris Deering – Youth Protection training officer. Some time next week, she will send us an email with a hyperlink from NAEM so we can each take that training.
- Randy Smith – we have 2 tables reserved for the Foundation Dinner. If you’d like to attend, it’s $80 per person with your check paid to the club.
