We were back singing as we started another fun meeting.

 

Happy dollars:  Kevin Wilcox rang the bell.  He took a trip to Oklahoma City to get a truck.  A semi-truck smashed into the truck on the way home.  The truck got repaired and Kevin registered it in Idaho.  Hint: They are building a home in Coeur d’Alene Idaho.

 

Hanns Haesslein took his grandson back east for a vacation and came back on the train.

Club Social:  This month’s club social is Saturday, April 29 at the Watson’s home.  Kelly and Bill will be cooking steaks and proving wine.   

 

Fundraiser:  Silent auction items continue to roll in.  Please let Tim Hayes know if you have items to donate.   Jim Shaw spoke about the efforts to get donations.  

 

PE Jim Fritzsche presented in jest a few auction items.  They included tickets to ride the bullet train in 2074, CIA balloon ride to China and a George Santos master class on building a resume.  

 

 

Speaker: Bridget Alexander with Waking the Village told us about their program to assist 18–21-year-olds who are facing homelessness.  Government programs are not designed to help this age group.  50% of their clients are former foster children and many have children.   Their program provides transitional homes for up to 24 months.  Their program is centered around the arts and they expect them to work.   They are required to save 75% of what they earn so that they will have money set aside for when the transition out of the program.  95% do not experience homelessness in the 5 years after they exit the program.

New Week’s Meeting: It’s going to be an old school meeting next week.  Bob Deering and Randy Smith will be out of town so there will be no Zoom call and no AV equipment.   For those of you tired of pasta, President Amy has arranged to celebrated Cinco de Mayo by having tacos for the meal.   Heather Bennett, the principal at Tahoe Elementary School will be our speaker.   She will tell us about the work at the school and the challenges that the schools are facing.
