After being dark for a week, we were back in business. President Amy Ruggles had a senior moment, even though she isn’t a senior yet, and forgot whom she asked to do the Thought of the Day. Dave Jones was volunteered to bail Amy out and he did a great job.

PDG Sandi Sava along with PDG Bob Deering and DG Karen Cendro inducted Sean Safholm as are newest member of the club. Sean’s classification will be Entrepreneur. Bob Deering and Tim Hayes each agreed to contribute $100 toward Sean’s Paul Harris Fellow.
Fun Raising
Amy was quick to call for Laura Pajak to squeeze money out of the members and she was at her best. She got Bud Walker for $50 for being part of a best-selling book. She got Bill Loscotoff for another $50 because he went to Hawaii and didn’t notify Laura and did not bring a gift back for Amy. She got Bob Deering for $10 because of Sean’s induction. She also contributed $10 per wheel ($60) for her new Subaru.

Today is the last day of Rotary Foundation month. Bob Deering handed out Paul Harris Fellow pins.

Children’s Receiving Home –We will celebrate Christmas with the kids on Dec 2 at 5pm. It will be at La Rosa Blanca Restaurant. ESR will be giving each child a high-quality backpack, among other things.
Clothing and Diaper Drive – Dave Jones asked us to keep bringing in diapers and baby food for the Undie 500. This is for the children of students at American River College. We are also doing a clothing drive for the Women’s Empowerment program. They are look for slightly used professional attire for women.
YWCA – George Gomes reminded us to bring the food and utensils, that we volunteered for the YWCA dinner, to the YWCA on December 5 at 5:15pm.
Christmas Party – Bill Watson reminded us of the Christmas Party at his house on December 10 from 5-10pm.
Polio Plus – Joe Scheimer thanked us for our support of his ride around the City of Tucson as part of the Ride To End Polio. Our club raised the most money for Joe and it appears that the $40K+ that Joe raised will be the highest amount raised.
North Highlands Park – The North Highlands Park and Rec department is having a Breakfast with Santa. Amy is donating 100 meals and is looking for anyone else that might want to help. The breakfast is $8 per person.
Salvation Army – Bill Watson gave us a brief history of the Salvation Army and the work they do. Our club has supported them for at least 50 years. We will ring the bell on Saturday, December 17 at the Bel Air at Arden and Eastern. Bill sent around a signup sheet. If you missed it and want to ring the bell, contact Bill.
Poinsettia – President-Elect Jim Fritzsche announced that the Poinsettia sales were a big success. Peggy Porter Honeyman was the highest seller with $2,400 sold. President Amy came in second with sales of $800.
Speaker – Bob Deering introduced his close friend Wyn Spiller. Wyn is from the Rotary Club of Grass Valley. She has been District 5190’s Foundation Chair as well as the zone rep. She gave a great speech on the work of the Foundation. She highlighted the work the Foundation and Rotary clubs have done to support the wildfires these past years and the work of the Foundation is Ukraine and Afghanistan.
