Pres. Amy was surprised when she began the meeting to find that the normal “singing” we do was preempted by a Halloween spoof.  Ghosts and goblins were around today!  Pledge was by Dave Veden, 4-Way Test recited, and thought for the day from Randy.   Off to a good start!

Unfinished Business - Keith McBride presented the revised Club By-Laws to be voted on.  There was a quorum present.  Proposed By-Laws include the changes that were approved at the Council of Legislation.  Keith moved the be approved, Dick Hall 2nd, pass with a unanimous vote.

11/2 - ESR Meeting will be held at the K-9 facility.  Prez. Amy passed a sign-up sheet

          around.  If you were not present, please call her to get on the list.   The K-9

          officers are treating us to a Tri-Tip lunch,  Jim Shaw reminded the members

          of the history of our relationship with the K-9 facility.  We want to maintain

          our relationship with this organization.  We will be outside, so plan to dress

          for the weather.

Amethyst Travels - Dick Hall reported on his recent trip with Amethyst to find the love of Amethyst’s life.  Remember when the Donhost’s took Amethyst to Bodega Bay and she found a boyfriend?  Well, she has been in a funk ever since.  After many Bodega Bay adventures, the boyfriend was nowhere to be found.  Reporting this to Lewie Donhost, Dick learned that boyfriend hitched a ride back to Sacramento with Donhost’s.  Knowing this, Dick took Amethyst to the Donhost’s house for a reunion.  Well, left unsupervised, we now have a baby “Army” armadillo.  Guess you cannot trust just any Rotarian!  But Amethyst had a big smile on her face!

 

Poinsettia Fundraiser - Jim Fritsche, with his typical humor, reminded us to sell Poinsettias.  Orders must be in by November 10, delivery November 29.  Flyer is posted on the webpage.

 

Children’s Receiving Home - We will be doing dinner with the kids from CRH on 11/4 at Round Table Pizza, Watt & Whitney.  This is a really fun evening.  If you’ve not joined the group before, please consider coming.  You won’t regret it!  

On Dec. 2, ESR will be sharing a Christmas Party with these kids.  Details to follow.

 

Speaker -   Lamond Harrison provided us with another outstanding program.   Lynette Hall, Manager of the Sacramento Community Engagement Officer, Office of Innovation and Economic Development.  This is a new department, dedicated to putting the “unity” back into community.   Their platform focuses on Education, Engagement, Empower, Diversity, and Building Relationships.  They currently are a 6-person organization, and are adding 2 addition employees soon,  Lynette is a convenor and connector.  They have done professional analysis of our city to determine the diversity and how to reach those communities.  They are determined to share their strategies and processes with those they serve.  She cited several examples of how they have accomplished this.  Their best practices were pretty remarkable, tools for sharing and engaging.  This is a dynamic new department.  If you were not with us today, you missed a most informative meeting.  Thank you Lamond!  Thank you Lynette.
