Bob Deering was on his was to Australia, so Randy Smith manned the AV equipment.  He promised to take bribes next week to skip the music.  It will require each member to donate at least $5 to the cause.   President Amy reluctantly agreed to the deal. 

 

Maria Mengotti was leaving for Australia after the meeting, and she took Ralph (one of Amethyst’s kids) with her.  

 

Guest: Carrol Dudley reintroduced Heather Story from the Rotary Club of Granite Bay.

 

Happy dollars:  Once again we were without our Fundmaster Laura.  

 

Betsy Gade just got back from a trip to Alaska.  She was smart and gave Amy a tabletop cornhole game.  She still volunteered to pay a little for her trip.

 

Amy announced that her son graduated from McGeorge Law School.  Her daughter, Sam, still has a year to go.  

 

Charlie Rae announced that his son Emil graduated from high school.  Emil got his eagle scout badge by updating the Tahoe greenhouse.

Club Social:  This month’s club social is at Allison Hamaker’s has been cancelled.  Hopefully we can reschedule it in the fall.  

 

Rotary House:  Tim Hayes read a note from Bridget Leach thanking Rotary for allowing her and he son, Achilles, to stay at the Rotary house.   A new family has moved in.  Maria and Leo Perez will be staying at the house as Leo is being treated for Leukemia. 

 

Scotts on the River:  Sandi Sava announced that the Scott’s river ride, this past weekend, raised $400 for Polio Plus.

 

Fundraiser:  We have received many donations for the auction.  Now we need people to attend that can might bid on the items.   We have not sold many tickets so we need your help.   Please invite friend to attend.  There are table sponsorships available.  You can buy tickets on our website.

 

Podcast:  Amy announced that there is a Rotary podcast called Rotary Matters.

 

PE Jim Fritzsche:  Jim gave an update on Saturday’s board retreat.  He also discussed some upcoming trips with the kids at the Sacramento Receiving Home.   A pool party is going to be held at Jim’s home and this summer he is going to take a group of kids to the Six Flags Discovery Park. 

 

Speaker: Kimberly Key, CEO of the Sacramento Boys and Girls clubs was our speaker.  Kimberly oversees 13 sites across the region and is in the process on opening 3 more.  One of the sites is in the juvenile hall.  

 

The program serves children 6-18 years old and 90% are from homes living below the poverty line.   The serve 5000 kids.  As part of the program, they must do their homework before they are allowed to participate their enrichment programs, which include drama, music, and sports. 

 

Raffle: Peggy Porter won the raffle.
