SPENDING THE AFTERNOON WITH SACRAMENTO'S FINEST K-9s

East Sac Rotary took a field trip to visit the Sacramento Police K-9 training facility at McClellan Park.  Our Rotary club has been very involved with Sac PD's K-9 team through our efforts of building projects at the training center and sponsoring the purchase of a dog for the city.  We enjoyed our visit and look forward to taking on future projects with Sacramento's finest K-9s.

SPENDING THE DAY WITH

HONORARY ROTARIANS AT K-9 TRAINING FACILITY

East Sacramento Rotarians visited the Police K-9 training facility at McClellan Park on June 22nd.  What a great way to show Rotary President Gary Huang's representative to our District Conference, Sam Fontinella from the Philippines Rotary in District 5180.

The police officers put the dogs through their paces showing us how the facility our club built is being used for training all of the K-9 unites in the greater Sacramento area.  We watched as a dog roamed an area to find certain items that had DNA on them which would have taken the officers many hours to find.  The dogs also impressed us going through the obstacle course and also tracking down a bad guy and roughing them up.  See below for a related story.  The police also have a trailer on premises now (which will be the subject of future ESR projects) which is used to train the dogs of finding the bad guys in a house.

It is always great seeing the dogs work and also seeing that projects conducted by ESR are sustainable.
