Sip'n Frolic
Sip ‘n Frolic will be held May 27 at the Lost Grove Brewery on Lusk Street. Pizza has been added this year to the 5 beer or wine tastings and is included with the purchase of an entry ticket. We will have a promotional spot on Idaho Matters on May 18th.
Only 1/3 of the club has signed up. Jenny encouraged us to invite our friends and coworkers. Sponsors should get their list of attendees to Glenn or Dwight.
In case you missed it, Andrea was interviewed on Idaho Matters earlier this week, which was great press for our club and for Rotary. The interview can be found on the Idaho Matters website. Glenn Harris is still looking for a few more volunteers to help during the event.
Join the Rotary NamiWalks team in a 5K walk along the Boise Greenbelt. The walk will be Saturday, May 23 from 11:00 am - 1:30 pm. The walk will start at the Ann Morison Park - Old Timer’s Shelter. Those unable to join the walk were encouraged to give a donation
Epic Day of Service
President Jenny spoke about the Epic Day of Service, May 16, where Rotarians and friends gathered to assemble 20 beds for Sleep in Heavenly Peace, an organization which donates beds and bedding to children who do not have beds. A good & rewarding time was had by all, and Jenny’s daughter really liked getting to use Power Tools!
Trail Talks
June 6th at 9:00AM– Trail Talks, join Jenny for a casual morning hike for all ability levels. Bring water, coffee, a friend or your pup! It will be about a 1-hour stroll.

Happy Dollars
Andy Erstadhad happy dollars for the Epic Day of Service event, sad dollars for the passing of former Governor Dirk Kempthorne, and happy dollars for the Jim Steele family. is happy that a pending building permit is putting him closer to being able to say that he is a property developer.

Kevin Learned was happy to acknowledge Andrea Pettit’s work on Sip N Frolic and noted that thanks to Andrea’s reminder he looked at the website and found that he had already purchased tickets to the event - so he made direct donations to each of the two projects being supported.
Paul Schmidt was happy for today’s host family, and for all the other host families which allow our Student Exchange program to flourish.
Todd Fischer was happy to read a thank-you letter from Whitney Elementary School, but his reading may not have exactly been the TRUTH? (The sentiment was there, but also perhaps included a few embellishments)
Vern Gentry echoed happiness for the Epic Day of Service project.

This Week's Speaker
Long-time member Jim Steele and his daughter, Lisa Steele spoke about their journey with StoryWorth. When she was looking for a gift for her father several years ago and came across StoryWorth. Each week StoryWorth emails a single thought-provoking question. At the end of a year, the author has created a book by responding to the weekly prompts. After an entertaining and informative presentation, Jim and Lisa were given a standing ovation by the audience.
Next Week's Speaker (June 4th)
Jim is a Bureau of Land Mgmt (BLM) meteorologist at the National Interagency Fire Center's (NIFC) Predictive Services unit for the past five years. Previously, he was involved with fire management for over 25 years, starting as an Incident Meteorologist (IMET) at the National Weather Service in Elko, Nevada, then in Reno before moving to his current position. He has had over 50 deployments to wildfires from 2002-2020 all across the West, including several in central and southern Idaho.

Special Guest
Sophie, our 17-year-old Taiwanese Foreign Exchange Student, spoke about her adventures in Idaho, some of the things she has done here, and a few of the things that have surprised her about the US. Among the things she mentioned were how easy it is to talk to people, how different school is, and how much farther the driving distances are.
