President Elect Sean Wall opened the meeting by welcoming everyone. Members sang My Country 'Tis of Thee, the Idaho State Song, and recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

Jim Wallmann is a Meteorologist with the US Forest Service. He is assigned to the Predictive Service unit of NIFC. NIFC is the most sophisticated wild land fire center in the world, located here in Boise.
This past winter set record warm periods over most of the American West. As result, we didn’t build our usual snowpack. Then we had a late March heatwave that melted off most of the snowpack that was there. In some parts of the country lost their snowpack as much as a month earlier than the previous record.
Meanwhile, there is a high probability of an El Nino to develop in the Pacific, and it’s developing much more quickly than ever before. So this is new territory for NICC. It means the outlook for the Northwest is hotter and drier than normal. This all means that the potential for significant fires is above normal for much of the West. In Idaho, the risk is above normal into late September.

Dr. Gary Brandecker graduated from Georgetown Medical School in 1988 and completed his residency training at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia, in 1992, and has been board certified in emergency medicine since. He worked for nine years in Wyoming, where the next closest (but much smaller) hospital was 100 miles away, so he experienced rural medicine firsthand.
Gary and his wife, Karen, moved to Eagle, Idaho, in 2001. He worked in the various emergency departments of St. Luke's Health System for 18 years. Gary is currently a full-time faculty member at Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he has been since the school was founded in 2018.
