On Tuesday, June 25th the Rotary Club of Sacramento held a fun and festive Demotion Party at Centro Cocina to celebrate President Todd Koolakian and another momentous Rotary year. The Demotion Celebration was a joyous evening with around 90 attendees made up of members, spouses and friends of President Todd. The group enjoyed many laughs and fellowship, an assortment of delicious Mexican fare, and brief remarks from President-Elect Bobby Reed, Todd’s Partner, Mark Heller and from President Todd himself.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and toasting to our 110th President and sharing in the success of our Club’s many accomplishments over the last year. Bobby “roasted” Todd a little bit sharing jokes about their friendship over the years and some comical parts of Todd’s term as President. Mark was a bit more sentimental invoking Todd’s late father and how he would be proud of his time as our Club’s President. Mark also poked a little fun at Todd saying he enjoyed being President so much he'd do it for another year if the Club let him.
Last, but not least we heard from President Todd who thanked both Bobby and Mark for their remarks and shared about his experience as our President and the honor it was to serve in this role and get to work alongside our members. Todd spoke about his journey over the last few years from receiving an urgent call back in the fall of 2021 from President Jim Leet while on vacation in Maui asking to set up what would end up being the surprise “Ask Meeting” to his experience over the last year as the President and fun experiences he had in between. Todd thanked those in attendance and the entire Club for their friendship, support and service to our Club. He said it was one of the great honors of his life to serve our Club as its President over the last year because he cherished the opportunity to serve alongside all of the Club’s great members. He finished saying while our great Club has had a storied and impressive history, his belief was that the Club had an even brighter future and the best is yet to come. He made a toast to the Club and the success of President-Elect Bobby Reed and President-Elect Nominee Kerry Wood.
