If you missed Golf 4 Kids…

What a spectacular day for golf!  The weather was picture perfect for the 2010 Golf 4 Kids tournament.  Photo Opportunities... If you would like to purchase a group photo to capture the day, contact the Rotary office at 916-929-2992. The cost is $10 each.
CONGRATULATIONS to Chair Steve Raymond and the Golf 4 Kids committee for a very successful 2010 event!  Thanks to Bob Daly, Diane Mizell, Elfrena Foord, Becky Roberts, Julia Ciano, George Overose, Debbie Rubens, Ken Noack, Jr., Heidi Hershenhouse, John McIntyre, Bill Knowlton, Art & Kiefie Breuer, Doris Pyles, Clayton Lee, Diana Borroel, Joe Grant, Linda Geery, & John McCardle - We appreciate all of your hard work!
Since 1922, the Rotary Club of Sacramento has been supporting programs that serve students with special needs. The Rotary funds are used for equipment and activities that the school districts simply cannot cover within their constrained budgets. Many of the children at these schools have multiple disabilities, making communication and mobility a tremendous challenge. Their varying needs require an array of physical and technological aids that enable them to participate in therapy and educational classes. A BIG thank you to those who stepped forward at the end of the evening with an additional contribution to help purchase much needed white boards and computers for the schools.
Wildhorse in Davis was a beautiful yet challenging golf course.  Rotarians and guests were treated to a hearty lunch, hospitality reception and a delicious BBQ tri-tip dinner.  Participants enjoyed a full day of fellowship, recreation and FUNdraising in support of physically and health impaired children in our community.
Some of the fun activities golfers and participants enjoyed were:
  • A "Fun Hole” with Polka music and dancing (the dancers conspicuously resembled our Rotarians)
  • A "Black Jack" card gaming hole with each hand dealt by President-elect Ken Noack
  • A hole for the longest drive, closest to the pin, and the infamous hole-in-one where golfers took a "long shot" at winning the Mini Cooper from Niello Mini.  No one drove home with a new car.
The 1st place winning team was John Phillips, Jon Snyder, Wes Yee & Peter Dannenfelser, with a score of 54. (Photo)
The 2nd place winning team was Mike Gilligan, Dan Guth & John Kelly, with a score of 57.
Matt Planchon won the men’s longest drive and Susan Drack won the women’s longest drive.
Larry Gilzean won closest to the pin.
Our sincere appreciation to our sponsors and supporters for your generosity over the years.  Thanks to the contributions of businesses, foundations and individuals like you, Golf 4 Kids continues to be an incredible success.   Also thanks to everyone who participated in the raffle.  The money raised at Golf 4 Kids will help us continue our commitment to these children. We are proud to furnish educational tools and programs that are vital to their rehabilitation and quality of life.
