RYE Host Families Needed!
As many of you are aware, the hardest task in making a successful youth exchange program is finding qualified host families that preferably have some connection to Rotary. The ideal, of course, is a Rotary family, but we also like to see friends of Rotary families that still have an indirect connection to a Rotarian. One of the issues in our district is that each Rotary club tends to have members that come from all over the district, which makes finding families within one club that all live near the same school difficult. In order to help alleviate this problem, the Rotary Youth Exchange Committee has decided to engage in a more district-wide search for host families, instead of club specific.
The following is a list of all the schools that our 20 exchange students next year will be attending. We ask that each Rotarian look through this list and decide if either your family or a family you know could host a student at one of these locations. For those of you who do not know the basics of being a Rotary host family, here they are: 1) each student is hosted by preferably 3 families; 2) each family hosts the student for 3 to 4 months; 3) the students are here generally from mid-August to the end of June; 4) the students are required to remain in good standing at their high school; and 5) each family is required to be interviewed and get a background check, which will be completed by a district committee member.
