Michael  Vitiello

Michael Vitiello is a Distinguished Professor and Scholar at University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. A nationally-recognized expert on criminal law, Professor Vitiello’s many articles appear in leading journals, and his work is widely cited by scholars around the country. While he is particularly well-known for his expertise on matters involving sentencing reform, Professor Vitiello’s presentation at Rotary will address the content of his recent article in the Wisconsin Law Review, “Legalizing Marijuana: California’s Pot of Gold?” where he explores the public policy implications of AB 390, the California Bill to legalize marijuana production and tax its sales. He also penned a 1996 article on Proposition 215, “Proposition 215: De Facto Legalization of Pot and the Shortcomings of Direct Democracy,” which appeared in the Michigan Journal of Law Reform.
