I think it is fair to say that a great time was had by all  as we gathered at "The Grove" outside at the Radisson for our own Tailgate Party.  With mini-footballs and peanuts on all the tables it made for a fun meeting...

Thanks to Sacramento Mountain Lions coach Dennis Green for his enthusiasm for his new team.  (I have already heard suggestions for a Rotary Night at the Mountain Lions, perhaps for their Saturday, November 13 game.)

My thanks to Amy Dean, who celebrated a milestone birthday (I heard "40" from the podium) and made contributions to both her next Eddie Mulligan (Rotary Club of Sacramento Foundation) and Paul Harris (Rotary International Foundation).  Also thanks to Kim Mueller who honored her husband Bob Slobe's company, The North Sacramento Land Company's 100th year anniversary.  Congratulations to you both!

I also want to thank Buddy Hubbert for being sponsor of the day.  Buddy looked great in his Cal jersey!

It is with a great deal of sadness that this meeting on September 13 marks Chris Winger's last as our Executive Director.  I want to personally thank Chris for her friendship, her guidance to this rookie president, and her deep devotion and dedication to the Rotary Club of Sacramento.

But, as it says, 'for everything there is a season," and this is a season of both farewells and hellos as we welcome Jan Gage this week as our new Executive Director.  Jan comes to us with over a decade of Rotary service including being the Past-President of the Rotary Club of Auburn and this past Rotary year, 2009-2010 was the District Governor for District 5190. Jan also comes to us with a wealth of business and management skills, too. Welcome Jan!

Golf for Kids is just around the corner.  We gather on Monday, October 4 out at Wildhorse Golf Club in Davis.  If you have not already signed up to play (and I KNOW that many of you still haven't signed up yet), please do so right now.  Just click on the Rotary Golf 4 Kids link and sign up RIGHT NOW!  The children at the schools we support are relying on us, you and me, to help.

Finally, a few upcoming fellowship opportunities I will offer for you to consider.
