Last Week...

Keynote speaker Drew Parenti graced us all with his eloquence at the June 7, 2010 meeting.  Drew was educated at S.D.S.U. (B.A.) and has been an active F.B.I. agent for over 25 years.  He has been serving at the Sacramento Field Office for the past 5 years focusing on investigating international terrorism.  Although obviously no secretive matters were divulged, at his request, no details from his presentation should be publicized.

In general, Drew reviewed the evolution and diversification of the efforts of various terrorists groups targeting locations in the United States, and he discussed their backgrounds and general tactics.  He discussed the role of foreign based groups such as al Qaida as well as numerous "home grown" activists aimed at terrorizing our country's citizens and institutions.  He reviewed the Bureau's difficult task of identifying and prioritizing each potential terrorist in terms of their intent and capability to actually carry out their crimes.  It was a fascinating glance into the behind the scenes, 24/7 efforts of law enforcement to protect all of us and preserve our way of life.  We are all reminded of the dangers around us and appreciative of the ongoing efforts of law enforcement "heroes" like Mr. Parenti at the F.B.I.    - SAL
