What a collection of talented and gifted individuals we are who make up our Rotary Club of Sacramento.
On less than 24 hours notice, Bruce Hester was able to change hats from Chair of the Day to Speaker of the Day. He informed and entertained us with stories of ancient and modern Mongolia.  Thank for pinch hitting in such a stellar way.
Bruce was called into duty when our intrepid Group Study Exchange entourage was way-laid due to weather in Los Angeles.  Arriving in Sacramento on Monday morning, four of the team members were still able to attend Monday's meeting.  Their leader, Rotarian Michael Tung from Rotary District 3300 was still in transit when our meeting started.
Kudos to a team of golfers including Past President Jon Snyder, Past President Skip Lawrence, and John Kelly who placed third in the District 5180 golf tournament.  For their effort they brought home a trophy just slightly smaller than the Kings point guard!  John Kelly also took the opportunity to share multiple good news with us including celebrating his 42nd wedding anniversary and his wife's 12 year anniversary of breast cancer survival.  Past President Walter Dahl shared the sad news that former Board of Director member Bruce Meissner will be leaving the club as he will begin work in Paradise, CA in a few weeks.  Bruce marked his last meeting by completing his 8th Eddie Mulligan!  Thank you Bruce for your living the Rotary motto of Service Above Self.
I do want to remind you of both the upcoming service and fellowship opportunities with the Wine Dinner on Sunday, November 7th  at the Supper Club. Ted White and JimCulleton invited everyone to participate in the Dictionary Project school visits and book distributions.

Again, thank you Bruce Hester, for pinch hitting in such a fine manner and I look forward to seeing you all next Monday!

President Scot
