Dr. Olivia Kasirye. is the Public Health Officer for Sacramento County. As Health Officer, she provides medical expertise and oversight on a variety of community-wide public health issues impacting County residents, including communicable disease control, maternal and child health issues, chronic diseases and emergency preparedness and is currently overseeing the COVID-19 pandemic response is Sacramento. Dr. Kasirye received her medical degree in Uganda, and holds a masters degree in epidemiology from UC Davis. She is board certified in Public Health and Preventive Medicine. Our Guest Speaker will be Kelly Richardson who is a Licensed Psychotherapist with a private practice in Folsom. She specializes in working with teenagers and has been in practice for 24 years. She also writes a blog called Thera-Mom and has been featured on the TV show “The Doctors”. For over 16 years Kelly wrote the syndicated teenage advice column “Teen Talk” that ran in the Sacramento Bee and numerous newspapers across the country. She lives in Folsom with her husband Kris, the assistant head football coach at Sacramento State University and her daughter Katie who is a senior in high school. She also has two sons, Kooper who recently graduated from UC Davis and is getting his Masters at Sacramento State now and Kaden who is also at Sacramento State. Please join us for our next in-person meeting on Tuesday, October 12, at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church to see the photos of our 8th annual Sac Century Challenge from start to finish. We want to acknowledge and thank everyone involved in making this event happen and for working so hard to assist our beneficiary in making an amazing difference in our community. We talked to a lot of riders on Saturday on the route and afterwards at the post ride festival and they all said that they had an great time and they will be back next year. The rest stops were well done and people could not stop talking about how wonderful and personable our volunteers were. It was a bright sunny day with very little wind which was made to order. Our Challenge Champions crushed it this year and people just stayed at the mall and hung out and listened to great music, ate great food and enjoyed a cold beverage on an absolutely perfect riding day. He will replace Congressman Ami Bera who was originally scheduled to speak but was called away out of the country unexpectedly. Congressman Bera will join us at an upcoming meeting in April. Rob is an astute observer of life and a master storyteller who brings empathy and compassion to the human experience. As CEO of Ignite 360, he leads a team of insights, strategy, and creative professionals serving the world’s leading brands across a range of industries. As a thought leader in the role of empathy in marketing and the workplace, he frequently speaks on the topic at conferences, corporations and colleges. He is the author of the forthcoming book, Tell Me More About That: Solving the Empathy Crisis One Conversation at a Time. He is a graduate of Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and lives in San Francisco with his husband and 3 cats. Rob will bust some commonly held myths about empathy and share how to utilize empathy in the workplace. Where leaders meet - in person! - to serve. Join us for our next in-person meeting on Tuesday, February 8, at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. As we all gear up for Super Bowl LVI, join us at next week’s meeting, February 8, to gain insights into the business of football from Mike Pereira. Mike is a former American football official and later Vice President of Officiating for the National Football League and currently the Head of Officiating for the United States Football League. Since 2010, he has served as a rules analyst for Fox Sports, for which he has gained the nickname "Mikey Rule Books." As a reminder the Rotary Club of Sacramento follows all Sacramento County Public Health guidelines regarding COVID-19. Masks are to be worn during all Rotary indoor event unless you are actively eating or drinking. The wine reception will be ready to welcome you at 11:45 am with the club meeting following promptly at 12:10 pm. We have returned to our normal fee structure of $25 per meeting. No cash will be accepted. Meeting fees will be invoiced. Credit cards and check payments are accepted. Hope to see you all there!
