Rotary Hike | Consumnes River Walk Trail Sept 21

This Sunday, September 21st at 10:00 AM, we will be walking a 3.3-mile trail in the Consumnes River Walk Trail. This is an easy loop traveling along the Consumnes River and some large open meadows just inland from the river. The wetlands make this trail a great viewing spot for birds and wildlife.

We will meet near the parking lot. Parking is free. However, no animals are allowed because it is a wildlife refuge.

The walk should take about 1.5 hours as there is little elevation gain (21 feet).

Directions from Sacramento:
Take I-5 south to the West Walnut Grove Road exit and turn left. Cross over I-5 and turn left on Thornton Road (first left where the gas station is located—Chevron, I think). Continue on Thornton Road, which turns into Franklin Blvd. The parking lot is on the right.

Please bring water (1–2 liters) and sunscreen. We hope to see some cranes—not construction cranes, but Sandhill Cranes—as well as ducks and other birds.
