Rotary Club Hike Saturday, October 19th starting at 9:30am. We will meet in front of the Mondavi Center to take a 3 mile hike through the arboretum. We should be done in 2 hours so you can plan to have lunch in Davis or elsewhere.
Parking in the parking garage near the Mondavi Center is free on weekends. To get there take the UC Davis exit off I-80 turn right and tight again, go past the roundabout and a little farther on the right is the parking garage.
Please bring water (1 liter is recommended), hat, sunscreen, and your good nature with you. There are no bathrooms in the arboretum.
You will be asked to sign a release for the walk when you arrive that releases the Rotary club and its leaders from liability as you are assuming the risk of injury to yourselves on the hike.
The path is mostly paved. The elevation gain over the 3 mile hike is 50 feet so it is virtually flat. Please wear comfortable walking shoes. I have pre-hiked this hike last week. The foliage is not as robust as in summer, but the autumn experience won’t disappoint you, I believe. The stream going through the arboretum is being restored to improve the habitat.
