This marks one year since the Rotary of Sacramento Board of Directors created our ongoing Rotarian at Work Day at Senior Gleaners. Last December we had a record number of volunteers at 165. Since then we have ranged from 45 to 65 volunteers each quarter on our work day. We have sorted tens of thousands of pounds of food for distribution, and had fun doing it.
Let us begin the traditional season of giving, by giving our time to something that will benefit hundreds of people. Come one, Come all! Spouses, kids, cousins, friends, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, YIP students. The more people who help, the more food will be distributed. Let's kick off the Holidays with service instead of shopping.
We will meet at Senior Gleaners and sort and box food for delivery to food banks across the region. Senior Gleaners serves Shasta, Placer, Tehama, Butte, Sutter, Yuba, Nevada, El Dorado, Amador, San Joaquin, Yolo, and of course Sacramento counties. Last year they distributed 8M pounds of food to about 108,000 people (unduplicated count). This year they anticipate 12M pounds of food to about 160,000 people (unduplicated count).
9am ‘til noon, just 3 hours! That’s all we ask…
