Rotary Club of Ossining: Gift of Life

(04/16/10) OSSINING - A 6-year-old girl from Panama is expected to return home in about a month after receiving some very special gifts from the Rotary Club of Ossining.

The club and a host family helped bring Laurin Samira Rivera Hernandez to the U.S. to have a hole in her heart repaired by surgeons at the Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx.

Yesterday, members of the rotary club and Hernandez's host family treated her to a bedside visit with members of 'Aventura,' a world-famous latino music group.

"The girl is getting a new life and the mother is getting a new life," says host-family member Phillip Ruiz. "Its like we're all getting a new life through the child and this organization."
