Membership

Let's begin to look at those places where we can attract new Rotary members. The first place that we can find the best potential new members is the easiest and most difficult group.
That is our own friends. Why are these people so good to become Rotarians? Because they are the most like us or we would not accept them as friends.
Why is this group so difficult to attract? I believe that we are afraid to ask them. Our fear is that our friends might say no to your request and you would feel a degree of both failure and embarrassment. It will seem that your friend is rejecting your offer. It is easier to avoid the ask than to face the rejection.
A suggestion is that you tell yourself that you can only make an offer and if they do not accept, it is not the end of your friendship. Not everyone is ready for Rotary the instant you ask them to join. Tell your self not to be sensitive about their answer. No matter how self-confident you might be, having a friend not accept your offer of membership hurts for a moment.
Just remember how important Rotary is in your life and you want to offer that to your best friends as well.
