Rotary Club Of Lake Placid

MARTHA SPEAR SPEAKS AT CHANGE OVER DINNER

Incoming Rotary President, Martha Spear, offered some important thoughts concerning the past, present, and future direction of our club during our recent Change Over Dinner.  Picture shows Past President, Bill Barnes passing the gavel to Martha.  Here is an excerpt from her speech:
"As we enter the 17-18 Rotary year, the Board wants to establish a sense of shared vision and mission, set goals for the next several years, and develop a plan to work toward achieving those goals.  Save the date, September 23rd right here at Heaven Hill, a planning retreat."

Our club was founded in 1994 by a core group of Lake Placid-area business and community leaders, mostly men, many of whom are still passionately involved in Club activities.  This is our Club’s greatest strength.  Now, we have a changing club and a changing world.  We have recently welcomed many new, younger members and women.  In addition, we must be prepared for the inevitable changes our Club will experience as older members pull back from leadership and younger members must step forward.  Our capacity to raise funds for our own and other projects, and to volunteer is limited, so we must make choices about our priorities.  As we enter the 17-18 Rotary year, the Board wants to establish a sense of shared vision and mission, set goals for the next several years, and develop a plan to work toward achieving those goals.  Save the date, September 23rd right here at Heaven Hill, a planning retreat.

Thank you for your passion for and commitment to this Club.  Being a member of this Club with the role of president is going to be awesome.  I am really excited to have this responsibility for the next year.  Thanks.
