The film is called ‘the Duke’ and Rotary have the opportunity to view the film early in December before it is open to the public, it will be available to the public on Boxing Day.

Lids 4 Kids
By DG John Clue.

Two great environmental programs Clubs can get involved with are Lids4Kids and Aussie Bread Tags for Wheelchairs.

Lids4Kids is a nationwide 100% volunteer project to rescue plastic bottle lids from landfill to benefit the environment and kids.
Lids4Kids hopes to rescue eligible lids from landfill for projects that benefit all Australian kids in need.
So if you could collect milk bottle tops for recycling to reduce the amount of waste being sent to landfill, you will contribute to your Rotary Clubs’ Environment Project.
Just remove the yellow, blue or red plastic top from milk bottles, wash them and pop them into a collection container.

Aussie Bread Tags for Wheelchairs, collect bread tags, sell them to recyclers and turn the cash into wheelchairs for people who can’t afford them.
Bread tags can be collected and placed in collection containers.

RI President-elect Jennifer Jones announces Rotary’s $97 million pledge for sustainable projects during Global Citizen Live

Rotary International President-elect Jennifer Jones took the stage at the Global Citizen Live concert on 25 September in Paris, France, and pledged $97 million in grant funding from the organization next year for sustainable, Rotary club-led projects.
“This year we’re putting a special focus on empowering girls worldwide, opening doors for young women to build brighter futures,” Jones said. “Today Rotary is committed to helping end poverty globally and protecting the planet by pledging $97 million in grant funding during 2022 for sustainable, member-led projects.”
She added: “We stand together with Global Citizen as people of purpose, people of action.”
Rotary has worked with Global Citizen for a more than decade, primarily regarding the effort to eradicate polio worldwide. At the 2012 Global Citizen event in New York City, Rotary General Secretary John Hewko and celebrity ambassador Archie Panjabi announced Rotary’s $75 million commitment to polio eradication. Rotary and Global Citizen have also connected at Rotary International Conventions, the Commonwealth Heads of Governments Meetings, polio advocacy events, and polio funding announcements.
In total, more than $1.1 billion in commitments, 157 million trees to be planted, and 60 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to be donated to developing countries were announced in conjunction with the 25 September event.

What is ROMAC

ROMAC - Rotary Oceanie Medical Aid for Children aims to provide specialist treatment for children froth Oceania region in the form of life saving and / or dignity restoring surgery not accessible in their home country.

ROMAC is totally voluntary
There are no paid staff and the small administration expenses incurred are paid from another income stream.100 cents in every $1 given to ROMAC goes to directly helping a child.

History of ROMAC

ROMAC commenced in March 1988 out of the actions of an Australian Rotarian who, with a group of surgeons, visited Lambasa in Fiji.
They found the child mortality rate as high as 25% in some places and quickly identified that lack of medical and surgical facilities and skills for children of the island nations, was a major cause.

Rotary faced the challenge to assist an 18-year-old Fijian girl whose right leg was threatened if immediate surgery was not performed.
During the next four years, eight children were brought to Australia for major, often lifesaving surgery.
Soon 20 Rotary clubs were caught up in the success of each case and assisted in various ways.
